About this listen

Zoey's life has taken a dramatic turn. Only a few months ago, she was a Collector working for the secret part of the government called the Department of Molecular Genetics (DMG), tracking and collecting fae. Her life had been changing and improving, with a partner she loved and a sister she adored. Now all that is gone - Daniel murdered by a fae, and Lexi killed when the Seattle area was devastated by a powerful, magical electrical storm. In addition Zoey finds herself altered by her association with the Wanderer, Ryker. She discovered that she was an experiment from the very company she worked for. She could die at any moment of a threatening defect - taking Ryker's magic with her.

In a race against time, Ryker and Zoey set out to find a way to transfer Ryker's powers back before it's too late. Their journey takes them to the rain forests of South America, dealing with those who are after something Ryker possesses and who will stop at nothing to obtain it for themselves. What Zoey and Ryker discover can destroy them or tear them apart for good.

Loved it

Love this series! This installment is filled with emotion and action. I loved all the character interactions and Sprig adds just the right amount of humour.

I LOVE the series but POC described oddly

I thought book two would be better but the way the author describes BIPOC is soooo cringe. It’s almost like she’s only seen/heard about them on tv or pictures. I’m sure it’s not intentional at all but every time she tries, it’s using words that are shocking, peculiar, or down right stereotypical. Doesn’t take away from the story but I rolled my eyes a lot of felt uncomfortable at the most random moments. It just feels like maybe they’re should be some BIPOC in the publishing process.

Hot!!!

Holy moly. Adult fantasy, love the characters, some adult content, some great, like phew, had to pull over great. Some not so much, in the, this is so horrible for the character, but still very well done, cringe-y though. Loved it!

Huge Fan

I absolutely love Stacey Marie Brown's books. This one allowed me to follow Zoey and Riker through more twists and turns and the awkwardness of Amara coming back I to the picture. It's a wonderful and crazy ride.
And while I have gotten usednto the voice of the narrator (I had a different voice in my head reading the book) I have gotten very frustrated that intermittently she says Rider and not Riker. But what grates on me is that in reading the words of the book, Sprig called Zoey "Bean" his way of referring to her as a human being but in the audio telling of the story he calls her either "Man," I guessing for huMAN but sometimes it sounds like Van which makes no sense. "Bean" was perfect and every time he calls her Man/Van I grumble BEAN.
Having said that, this does not take away the amazing story and I can't wait to listen to the next book.

Much sexier than the first book!!!

Where does The Barrier Between rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Its up there!!! I really love the characters in this series. All of them are likable, except perhaps for the villains.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sprig, cause he's so cute and funny this book!!! Not annoying like the last one!

What does Amy Landon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does a good job, I can't imagine anyone else narrating this book!!!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love and Loss

Any additional comments?

This book has all the sex scenes the other (first) book lacked. I used to get so annoyed in the last book because Sprig used to always interrupt. This book makes up for all that. It was great! I also liked the emotional depth of the characters in this book.

Engaging story but not for YA

Content is more mature than I had expected. I enjoy the reader and the story definitely holds my interest. It is not one I want to listen to with my teenager in the car! Most certainly will finish the series.

Keeps on giving

Completely captivating, always draws you back in wanting more. The end came too fast, and left me shocked at how it unfolded.

Zoey and Ryker’s story really takes off in book 2. These two are running from DMG and a whole bunch of other Fae, everyone is after them and they still have no clue how to get the powers out of Zoey and back to Ryker. The majority of this book takes us to Puru and I loved the change of scenery in this book. I also loved adding in the sexy Pirate, Cryogen. I will say, I don’t know what to completely make of him yet, but I am willing to stick around to find out.

This book ends in such a way that makes me so glad that book 3 is already out as I needed to instantly head into it.

This was just like the first book, one I just couldn't put down & the audiobook was so well done. The narrator did an amazing job bring this story to life.
