All told, this omnibus is over 130,000 words and it follows the journey of Matthew Campbell as he fends off the alien "Beat" invaders and learns the ropes of fighting a war for an evil galactic empire that couldn't care less if he lives or dies.

In this series, there are lots of action scenes, some cool technologies, mechanized marine units, and so much more. Fun but lacking

It was a good story. The writing could use some more color. There wasn't much depth to it. It needed more descriptors of the action and locations. It leaves the reader to come up with what things look like.

The virtual voice is trash. It always is. AI doesn't pick up on phonetically spelled words, innuendo, or the emotion of the moment. It's just a cheap cop out to get the book out there.

Content

Would have been a lot better with a real live narrator. Virtual voice has no emotion.

Virtual voice

The story was good but the virtual voice was boring and emotionless. It all but ruined the book. If I wouldn’t have paid for it I would’ve given up on it halfway through the series.
