Publisher's summary

Steve Jobs was a remarkable man who wanted to unify the world through technology. For him, the point was to set people free with tools to explore their own unique creativity. Chrisann Brennan knows this better than anyone. She met him in high school, at a time when Jobs was passionately aware that there was something much bigger to be had out of life, and that new kinds of revelations were within reach.

The Bite in the Apple is the very human tale of Jobs's ascent and the toll it took, told from the author's unique perspective as his first girlfriend, co-parent, friend, and - like many others - object of his cruelty. Brennan writes with depth and breadth, and she doesn't buy into all the hype. She talks with passion about an idealistic young man who was driven to change the world, about a young father who denied his own child, and about a man who mistook power for love. Chrisann Brennan's intimate memoir provides the listener with a human dimension to Jobs's myth. Finally, an audiobook that reveals a more real Steve Jobs.

Wonderful and different perspective on Steve Jobs

My name is Spencer Cox and I'm a journalist who has interviewed John Sculley and Daniel Kottke
to try and learn as much as I can about the man in the machine known as Steve Jobs. Chrisann has been known far too long as a villain in the Steve Jobs mythology but this book opened up so many windows of thought of Steve Jobs and is a must for anyone wanting to learn more of the early
Steve Jobs.

Missing Important Book Re: Jobs

This is a well written, well narrated, moving book about the real Steve Jobs. After I read Walter Isaacson’s book, there was an uneasy incompleteness about the story of Jobs. This fills in the gaps. You get a much better picture and a fuller understanding. Looking forward to reading her daughter’s new book.

I admire and respect Chrisann so much more for what she had to endure.

Elegantly Expressed

Chrisann does a fantastic job of voicing her frustrations, telling her side of the story and taking a bite out of the apple. Even though it seems the apple took a bite out of her as well.

Written from the Heart

I loved it. It was a story from the perspective of Steve’s first love. A must read to appreciate a side of Steve Jobs you won’t find in any other book about him. I recommend it highly...

Amazed!!!

It’s amazing to see how some people change with money. I will never understand how a “genius” would deny he’s own blood, have them go through hardship to survive and let them suffer so much, he’s own daughter, unbelievable. I hope he found what he was looking for in heaven. May he Rest In Peace.

Incredible Book!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chrisann was my favorite character, because she writes from her heart! I was so surprised to hear all the other "side" of the story! I was fascinated with everything and specially her beautiful way of writing.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book! Chrisann Brennan tells everything so nicely!

Beautiful! Well written and performed!

Doing the right thing around the collateral damage produced by a megalomaniac, narcissistic, emotionally retarded, destructive, sadistic, and self centered ass hole is not easy. Many lives are wasted or destroyed in their path, Chrisann Brennan does admirably to keep it together, sadly eventually she continued to be hypnotized by Jobs until the end. What is a slight to Tina (telling her that Chrisann is one of the most creative people Jobs has ever met) is seen by Chrissann as a compliment ("why didn't he ever tell me!"), but Jobs only ever says so to Tina to make her feel less of herself in comparison to Chrissann! Normal people, around crazy people, always have had a very hard time around them, doing so around an empowered one, Jobs (a vampire of the energy, emotions, and ideas of all around him) is much harder, but Chrissann takes the right measure of Jobs and does admirably so in knowing him and his effect all around him, surviving and eventually thriving!

She’s a flake.

Poor Lisa. Chrisann is a flake. It was frustrating to listen to. I can understand Steve’s frustration with her but that doesn’t excuse his behavior to Lisa.

Narrator

I just couldn’t continue listening to the narrator’s voice and delivery even if the story is worth reading. I’m sorry but you need to redo the audio with someone else’s voice that is softer & with a different style of delivery.
