About this listen

Another coast-to-coast challenge for the Dickens Detective Agency.

When Bruno Caravaggio confesses to a murder he didn’t commit, Damien returns to Atlantic City to find the killer and clear his friend’s name. His task is complicated by Bruno’s desire to protect his mother and her equally strong instinct to defend her son.

While Damien is away, Millie agrees to look into the claim of an eccentric Carmel-by-the-Sea resident that her children are trying to poison her. Her investigation leads her to Rancho Luna Azul, which sells its meat at several farmers markets in the area.

As she explores the connection between Rancho Luna Azul and the poisoning claim of her client, Millie becomes enmeshed in the FBI’s probe of a drug distribution ring operating out of the same premises. Risking capture - and possible death - at the hands of the drug ring, Millie bluffs her way inside and collects the evidence the FBI needs to complete its case.

Yet again another good detective mystery

Loved Phyllis Entis detective novel always making one listen carefully even sometimes rewinding and listening again. Milly is my favourite character and Tom Lennon imitates her so well. Hope there will be lots more novels.

Love the Era!

No cell phones or fancy tech here. Just plain old detective work by a loveable couple. Narration fits the era and the characters perfectly.

Clean Cozi Detective

The intricate plot is more than enough to keep you interested all the way through. As long as Entis keeps writing them I will keep buying them.

Interesting plot, consistent narration

I enjoyed this book, which kept me engaged and interested from start to finish. The beginning of the story is smoothly aligned with end of the previous book, and the characters' relationships proceed in a natural fashion that isn't forced. The trope of food and eating is one that appears often, especially when the story is told from Damien's perspective, and I find this quirk interesting and gently amusing. At the end of the day, the characters in these books are ordinary people involved in extraordinary or unusual events. Tom Lennon's narration conveys this well, and his work has been consistently good through most of the series - at the very least, from Book 2 onwards.
I enjoyed this, all in all, and look forward to listening to any future leads that the Damien and Millie Dickens team might follow!

Great entertainment

I absolutely loved this story. I think it might be my favorite in the series, except for one part that I can't disclose or it will ruin the story. It is sad. Anyway, Millie is recovering from her injuries sustained in the last book, the couple has moved to Carmel, CA (will they stay there? Hm. we'll see), and some of the characters in the past books with limited exposure are integrals characters in this one. I live in California, so I loved seeing the duo on my home turf. If you think you'll miss the detective team in Atlantic City, you'll get a nice surprise. The story as usual flows well and is suspenseful, going back and forth between Dick's active case and Millie trying to hold things down on the home front. She's not getting a lot of rest though, which I'm sure her doctor would frown upon. You'll love the book if you're a fan of cozy mysteries.

Very enjoyable series

The latest installment in the Damian Dickens series. Millie and Damian are now in Carmel, California. Millie gets caught up in an investigation of a suspected poisoning while Damian is called back to Atlantic City to help an old friend who has confessed to murder. Add in Millie's son, Colin and you have a complex series of events and investigations. There are tears, there is laughter, and there is lots of love.

I really enjoy these books. They are interesting, keep you guessing, and make you think. A great cast of characters, and a great narrator make this a series I'm always happy to listen to.

Old School Detective Work

I've 'read' all of Entis' Dickens series and I think the Blue Moon Caper is my favorite thus far. I love the era the series is set in; Dick and Millie have to use their brains/intuition to figure things out. I'm always cheering Millie on when she has her own mystery to tackle and I especially loved the story line between her and Colin. Another big thumbs up to the author.

Nior style mystery

Book five but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. The series keeps getting better. The characters are great together. Damien and Millie make a great duo. They are flawed but likable. The mystery is fast passed well- developed and suspenseful. I listened to the audio version of the book. The narrator is a great storyteller and does a great job bringing the characters off the page.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way, I have been influenced by anyone.
