About this listen

Guarding her heart was never part of the contract.

Annie Bellfield is walking her dog early one morning when, from out of nowhere, a gorgeous stranger approaches her and starts to walk with her. The captivating woman's name is Nova, and Annie finds her intensely attractive. Until Nova pushes her into a black van with no windows.

Nova swears it isn't a kidnapping - that she's in charge of keeping Annie safe from someone or something she can't tell Annie about. Nova is frustrating, obtuse, and cocky, but as Annie and Nova go on the run from this untold danger, Annie finds herself falling head over heels for her bodyguard.

Mysteries, family secrets, werewolves, and passionate romance combine...what could possibly go wrong?

Great build up, well read but....

It feels like the author got tired of writing at the end and just found something quick to end it. The build up was great and the climax wasn't even a climax. I felt cheated.

Loved it, with reservations

I loved the story and Barrett’s performance. It’s a little off-putting when the main character launches into soliloquies during action sequences, though. If you like your information delivered mostly through dialogue you’ll be a little frustrated. I like the skip forward feature when the story starts to drag. That’s just me. It’s a great read!!!

Wish it wasn’t over

This was a good story. A few interesting turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I really like how Bridget Essex writes but I just wish that her stories were two or three times as long. And the narrator, Marina Barrett? I absolutely love how she reads and makes the story come to life. There is not a dull or monotone word. I feel like she read it exactly as it was supposed to be. So far my favorite narrator, and I’ve listened to many many different ones.

Sidelonged

Liked this book a lot! The two MC’s are steamy. However, the repetitive usage of “side longed” got increasingly common to the point it was predictable and slightly annoying. Overall a good book.
The narrator. What can I say? I am currently fervently seeking more books that she has done. She brought the story to life in a way that was magical! 10/10 stars there!!

Been a long time since I've heard a good first person story. I really enjoyed listening to this book.

You are beautiful.

Ms. Essex knows how to describe watching a woman walk. Strong, graceful, stunning... beautiful. It describes most of us. This is our norm. Together, we are beautiful. And the voice takes you there. You get to ... well, as she paints a detailed experience. Cool.

Boring

There was no action. What action was there was not told she skipped telling as it just went straight to the aftermath.
I have sent a few of her books back, I should of known better.
