"Sunk its claws in and had me gripped until the final page." (JD Kirk)
How do you solve a murder when there is no body?
When DCI Will Blake is called to investigate a blood-drenched gravestone, the evidence leads to Trevor Long, local paranormal investigator, self-styled medium, and conspiracy theorist. Long vanished while he was investigating the mysterious, axe-wielding Sons of Sol, worshippers of the Viking sun goddess. But Long’s life, like his death, is far from straightforward, and Blake’s team is drawn into a deadly game.
Meanwhile, closer to home, an old enemy is still conspiring against Blake. His life is in danger. And to top it all, his cat has gone missing.
Can Blake unravel the fate of Trevor Long, defend himself, and protect those he holds dear before the forces of evil close in?
The Bones of the Dead is the third in the thrilling Will Blake crime series. A great listen for fans of Alex Smith's DCI Kett and JD Kirk’s Jack Logan series.

This is another great book in the series and I was totally engrossed right from the start. The plot is complex and well written with many twists and turns and a host of interesting characters, including an axe throwing Viking called Thor! There is also some humour which made me laugh out loud a few times. I love Will Blake because he is so realistic, and his character is further developed in this book. We meet his brother and also find out more about his mother's disappearance. We also get to know the team a little better. I'm not sure about Will's girlfriend, Laura, though, as I just find her a bit boring and irritating! I prefer the cat and was totally invested in Will's search for her :-)
The narrator, Owen Welsh, is perfect for this series and I love that his accent is authentic to the area (the Wirral). He does the voices for the different characters well, making it easy to know who is speaking.
Another great book in this series
