About this listen

Two members of a wedding party and polar opposites in every way are forced to share a room for a night. What begins as a disastrous reservation mix-up may just end up being a date with destiny.

The newly jilted Ginny is feeling awkward as ever at the ritzy Napa Valley wedding. Her tight bridesmaid’s dress isn’t helping matters, and neither is the presence of a perfect-looking groomsman, who wants to dance with her of all things.

Sam has been admiring the quirky beauty all night. He’s got a feeling about her that won’t quit. She’s not his usual type, but maybe that means she’s the one he’s been waiting for. When fate takes a turn and the two are forced to bed down together, Sam can’t believe his luck. But the stubborn and difficult Ginny isn’t in the mood for a rebound or a one-night-stand. And she certainly isn’t in the mood for true love.

The debonair Sam has exactly one night to convince his bespectacled (as well as skeptical) goddess that they are meant for one another.

This particular bridesmaid is going to get very lucky. That is if she can let go of her fears and allow this modern-day prince to give her the fairy tale ending she deserves.

Cute short story!

This story is short, sweet, and funny. The shy awkward girl not only gets the hot guy, but a nice, persistent and patient hot guy. I enjoyed this book, it made me laugh and cringe! The narrator nailed it, Logan McAllister did a great job with this book.

Steamy humor

The nerdy librarian gets the hot billionaire jock in the most steamy hilarious way possible. I loved the banter between the h and H. The H loves to tease the h for some of her insecurities and her innocent comments just eggs him on and turns up the heat.

Lucky Girl

A story about a curvy girl getting the guy? Give me more! This was a short and sweet listen. It was snarky and sarcastic and resonated so much with me. Ginny may have been whiney and a lot self-deprecating, but come on.... the big girl got the hot guy. When does that ever happen? But can you blame her? She wasn't perfect. But anyone who can make fun of herself and still have fun is a rockstar.

I would have liked it a lot more if a female narrated, not that I don't like Logan. I do! Just not for this story.

Quick and Quirky!

This was a cute short read. The H was so sweet and persistent in seeking the h. The h had a pretty low self-esteem due to a previous boyfriend and her normal quirky librarian lifestyle. The banter back and forth was pretty funny. There was a pretty steamy part as well. I enjoyed this quick read.
The narrator did a great job.

A delight!

This book is a delightful story that is wonderfully told and captivates the reader right from the beginning. Virginia is the bridesmaid for her best friend and is hilarious because she says whatever she's thinking. She's paired up with Sam, a friend of the groom, who's a nice guy and shows Virginia such kindness. He understands that she's sensitive about her appearance, but doesn't see it. He thinks so beautiful and he takes his time to get her to trust him. He has noticed her before and thought she was so refreshing, but Virginia's inability to see herself as someone desirable keeps him at arm's length. When she starts to believe his words because there's no guile in his eyes, she allows herself to feel comfortable with him. This is an uplifting story and I loved every minute of it. Logan McAllister does a wonderful job with his dynamic voice, and perfect intonation to bring each of the characters to life.

High Expectations - Met!

I have now ‘read’ everything that Ms. Bowen has written. I am clearly a fan of hers, so there were high expectations for this book. I’ve gown to love the characters in her other series and her writing style. Attempting to add humor into a style that you have mastered is not an easy feat. However, Ms. Bowen had me hooked from the very beginning once again.

I loved that the lead was not a typical leading lady. I too have walked while reading many a time, long before there were cell phones. I connected very well with Ginny being socially uncomfortable and preferring to be a wallflower. It was great to read a book where someone was forced to get a wallflower to come out of her shell, rather than her not really being a wallflower in the first place.

Once again, Mr. McAllister did an excellent job narrating the story. He has a voice that is made for this work.

I certainly recommend all of Ms. Bowen’s and Mr. McAllister’s work. This particular story is a great short read if you have a car ride and want some laughs or a quite afternoon getaway.

I was provided with a free copy of this audio book for my honest review. The views expressed here are entirely my own.

Short and sweet!

This novella is light, funny, and a delight to listen to! I found myself relating to Ginny's self-doubt, insecurity, and total lack of filter. I like how it's the hero looking to settle down and start a family; and I love that Sam was extremely patient with Ginny and that he managed to convince her to give them a chance without resorting to guilt, bullying, or manipulation.

The narrator, Logan McAllister, was a pleasure to listen to- he has great comedic timing and provided awesome voices for the characters.

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Sweeter than Wedding Cake

Ginny is going through a tough spell, dumped and damaged, eating ice cream to ease the pain. However, there is a hot dog for every bun, and Sam takes a shine to Ginny at their friends wedding. She's reluctant and he's persistent. Can you guess at the ending?!?
