About this listen

They were orphans, Chris and Saul - raised in a Philadelphia school for boys, bonded by friendship, and devoted to a mysterious man called Eliot.

He visited them and brought them candy.

He treated them like sons.

He trained them to be assassins.

Now he is trying desperately to have them killed.

Spanning the globe, here is an astonishing novel of fierce loyalty and violent betrayal, of murders planned and coolly executed, of revenge bitterly, urgently desired.

Good story, looking forward to the next book. Didn’t really care for the narrator though.

Good story line

Worth a credit. Warning: the book is more than 20 years old and feels a bit dated.

I prefer single readers to casts, but the story itself is strong and held my attention most of the way. I did feel, however, that it began to grow a bit predictable and I was ready for the story to wind up about 45 minutes before it actually did.

I did not find the reading too clipped or fast. I'll read more Morrell after this one.

Strong story, a tad long

This several years ago. The reading is terrible. I like one reader, not a full cast. Really messed up my experience..

This is my 2nd time with this story. I read it and now listened to it. The idea around the book is quite inventive in terms of how characters were recruited and some of the safe havens involved. I'd say more about those but don't want to spoil things.
Unfortunately, the reading of the audiobook is very bad. One of the worst I've ever heard. Buy the book.
I've heard there are some other books including the characters and I may have to look into those.

Story vg narration subpar

It seems to be a good story but really hard to listen to. I gave up it.

Performance needs updated

Great at different voices for each character in the book. I could identify each character from voice alone. I will probably listen to this again some day.

Excellent narrator

The story is great unfortunately the narration was horrible, it was read WAY TOO FAST! sometimes difficult to understand. David Morrell can write but should leave the reading to a professional.

The book Rambo, was not one of his best but much better than the movie. The Brotherhood of the Rose is a good old fashion spy drama.

An good spy story from the man who wrote Rambo.

Anything Mr Morrell writes is fantastic. I re-listen to many of his books.
I’m looking forward to listening to his newest book, Murder As An Art.

One of David Morrell’s best
