Publisher's summary

For 2,000 years, a hidden conflict has been waged. Now it is bursting into the open - in a pitched battle over the very future of the planet.

In the Amazon and in Africa, from oil spills to animal slaughters, the earth is being defiled, and two covert armies are locked in mortal conflict - with a woman reporter caught in the middle.

Drawn into the mysterious disappearance of a gray-eyed stranger and his horrific murder by fire, Tess Drake and a veteran New York City police officer follow the trail of blood from Manhattan to Washington to the ancient caverns of Europe. Hunted by both sides, fighting for her life, Tess races toward the dark heart of a secret that will rock the world.

Critic reviews

"Reader David Regal's basso profundo engages both emotionally and intellectually as he ably portrays both male and female characters. Highlights include extraordinary action scenes set in New York, Washington, and ancient European caverns." ( AudioFile)

Covenant of the flames was excellent

Love how Morrell makes the story come to life. It was thrilling and so very real. Believable with the processes and interesting in the subject matter. I read the books 15 years ago but love the audible as I drive so much these days.

Interesting Plot

The environmental zealotry was rather extreme but the plot was clever. The warrior priests returned from Morrell's Abelard Sanction series but their role was a bit negative. So I ended up a little confused.

Bad narrator

Terrible, just terrible narration. I made it through 30 minutes. I wish we could get refunds...

Most stilted dialogue I have ever heard

Would you try another book from David Morrell and/or David Regal?

While the book had an interesting premise, I had extreme difficulty getting past the stilted dialogue. Does the author think anyone really speaks this way? I think the narrator did what he could with the dialogue, but couldn't overcome the starched language. I would not order another book by Morrell.

Dissappointing

Not a bad plot but the excessive blasphemy and vain use of the Name of the Lord Jesus was offensive. I did not finish the book.
