About this listen

Peter Rabbit would like to know more about the four-footed friends who share the Green Meadows and Green Forest with him. Old Mother Nature is only too happy to help and holds a "school" for Peter. Along the way, many others of the Green Meadow and Green Forest creatures join Peter at school as he learns about his neighbors. As with all Thornton W. Burgess stories, young listeners gain positive values while learning a great deal about the animals that share their world.

Thornton W. Burgess was a conservationist and author of children's stories. He loved the beauty of nature and its living creatures so much that he wrote about them for 50 years. By the time he retired, he had written over 170 books and 15,000 stories for a daily newspaper column.

Worst narrator I have found, great stories

My children and I love the Thornton Burgess "For Children" books. There are actually four, the Animal Book, the Bird Book, At the Seashore, and the Flower Book. We have read and re-read them all. Appropriate and fun for all ages.

But this narrator is really irritating. Nasal, a bit whiny, and with a very odd, almost mechanical, cadence. Not only is it a terrible performance, it is not even an adequate simple reading of the material.

We have waited a long time for this to be released by Audible, but it's going back. My kids and I agree that the text-to-speech reading of this on their old kindle is easier to listen to than this performance. This is the first time I have been disappointed and irritated enough to write a review.

Offer a real performance of such good material Audible!

Also, please realize, there are a lot of positive reviews here, but if you read them, they are for the material and more specifically the kindle editions, not the Audible editions! Really?

Great story~Terrible Narration!

I wish I had read the reviews before I used my credit on this. We love the stories, but the narrator is painful to listen to. Annoying and whiney. We're terribly disappointed and will be sending it back. Please, someone, listen to these reviews and have this book re-read by someone better suited to narration.

The narration of this book is horrible.

This is a beautiful, thoughtful lively book that this narrator destroys. It barely sounds like satisfactory AI. I wanted to play this in the car for my kids to listen to again, as they love this book, but this VO is so bad we can’t even get through it. Lovely book, but this audible section is a total waste of money.
