Publisher's summary

The Center by Saul Herzog is the stunning eighth installment in the series that has taken the publishing industry, and Hollywood rights departments, by storm. This dazzling tour de force is a full standalone novel. From the mind of one of the most creative and versatile writers working in America today, this book will surely go down as a classic of the spy thriller genre.

If you listen too only one book this year, this is it. Action, adventure, rebellion, provocative foreign agents, characters you can sink your teeth into. If you're looking for a new spy thriller series that will stay with you long after you finish listening, look no further.

Recommended for fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher, Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp, Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne, and Brad Thor's Scot Harvath.

Enjoyed the prequel to the series

Saul Herzog’s storylines, captivating in the action, twist and characters. I also enjoy how the author, Saul Herzog, brings forth such normal human emotions in has characters.

I love to read Saul Herzog’s stories.

Mr. Herzog writes his stories with the intent to allow the reader to create the characters looks and voices as well as the settings to be created and experienced by the reader. I feel as if I’m holding the gun and my chest is tightening with the emotions that his (dare I say hero?) main character is experiencing. I personally am able to feel the emotions of the other characters because of the great descriptions that are given. I not only recommend these books but, I have to keep myself in check not to give the plots away for all the excitement that comes when giving an explanation of what the book is about. Well done Mr. Herzog well done.

A well written Lance Specter Prequel

The first six books in this series refer frequently to events in the past that shape the entire narrative, but does not explain them. This book brings the whole narrative together.

My least favorite

Still great, but it was predictable and not very exciting. Obviously it being a prequel I understand it would be different but not as great as I hoped it would be

Lance Spector is Master of the Genre

Another gripping installment of Lance. Love that we got to see the prequel to the first installment of this series! Even though, knowing the basic outcome you are captivated from the very first page, and the plot twists keep you guessing until the final chapter. Thank you for an incredible series, can’t wait to jump on the next one!

Is it worth a full book?

More of a short series than a full book. Undoubtedly something that Saul has been saving. Not a fan of this part being an entire book. Could have been a part of a more encompassing book rather than a standalone. Nonetheless, needed and valuable part of the series. Had me listening more than usual and well done. 4.4 stars, because of the length, not the quality

Did not fit with series

This could have been a good book (love the series) but why change what transpired between Lance, Roth and Clarice in the end wasn’t how we where led to believe - not spelling it out because don’t want to leave spoilers.

Prequels have no suspense

I really don’t like prequels. I have loved all the other books in this series, but this was boring from beginning to end
