After giving up her career as a Texas trophy wife, 28-year-old Lee McKinney finds herself in a Michigan resort town, keeping the books for her Aunt Nettie’s luxury chocolate business. But she soon finds that her new life isn’t all truffles and bonbons… Clementine Ripley, the defense attorney everyone loves to hate, is throwing a party that calls for several thousand dollars worth of custom chocolates - some made in the image of her champion cat. Lee jumps at the job, but sweet success takes a bitter turn when someone adds and extra ingredient - cyanide - to one of their delicious chocolates and it finds its way into Ms. Ripley’s mouth. Now it’s up to Lee to figure out who tampered with Aunt Nettie’s recipe before they find themselves behind not-so-chocolate bars.

Editorial reviews
This enchanting whodunit from author Joanna Carl, first in her scrumptious Chocoaholic Mystery series, follows plucky protagonist Lee McKinney as she dives into the chocolate business, but soon finds herself in more trouble than she could ever have imagined when someone sneaks a deadly extra ingredient into a special order...with disastrous results. McKinney has no choice but to track down the culprit if she wants to save her business - and her own skin!
Skilled voice actor Teresa DeBerry performs The Chocolate Cat Caper, her rich drawl deftly accentuating the tension in this thrilling mystery.

Would you listen to The Chocolate Cat Caper again? Why?
Not for a few years, I'd remember it too well. What about Teresa DeBerry’s performance did you like?
Her wonderful southern drawl... not overdone but just very nice and she just sounds so cute. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not exactly but I did want to get back to it.Any additional comments?
A nice mystery, clean book and not confusing with TOO many characters to keep track of like some mysteries... just enjoyed. Love easy listening and unconfusing!!Light, easy reading but a whodunit for sure.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Chocolate Cat Caper to be better than the print version?
No - because I did not like the Narrator. She put's waaay to much dramatic note in her performanceDid the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes and that is why I keep on listening despite the NarratorWho would you have cast as narrator instead of Teresa DeBerry?
Don't know - all in all she has a nice voice. I'd just prefer less fluctuationI'd recommend another Narrator

1. The main character 's quirk of misspeaking is not funny. It's annoying.
2. The corny phrases that are used by the villain.
3. The main character is not very engaging. The lead character is not very smart or interesting.
4. The character development lacking. Several characters were introduced but you never get to know them.
5. The story was choppy and did not flow well.
6. The narrator tried to add color and life to the story by using different accents, but, she only added to the meany things that made this story annoying.
The only thing I did like was the interjection of chocolate facts. I would have preferred recipes but the chocolate facts were interesting. I would not reccomend this book to anyone.
Disappointing
