Publisher's summary
The emotional equivalent of a Category Six hurricane is raging through the small Southern town of Barksdale in the form of a rumor that a provocative African American newcomer might be of supernatural origin. Lives are being turned around, upside down, and inside out, including:
- A wealthy, self-righteous Uncle Tom hiding the fact that he can't read or write.
- A bigoted school board official whose daughter is in love with his son.
- A corrupt sheriff hiding a dark secret that could put him away for life and cancel his chance for eternal life.
- A slick preacher sleeping around with women and men, spreading the gospel along with a deadly disease.
- Most remarkably, a man who many believe to be a modern-day Lazarus.

Story
Law grew up in the trenches. Hustling since the age of 12, his focus was making life better for his mother and brother. Finding intimate love was never a priority because he didn’t have many examples of that around him. Instead, he was taught to focus on getting money, not finding the one. Yet upon seeing her, Zuri pulled something out of Law that was foreign to him. Though he had been with his girlfriend, Whitney, for a long, exhausting decade, he had never experienced a woman taking his heart so mercilessly.

Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

I Truly Enjoyed This Book!
There were unexpected twists and turns in the book that had me laughing, shocked, and wanting more. The author and narrator did an exceptional job on this book. I hope there is a part 2 to The Church of Less Mess.

Provocative
The author took a very long time to tell too many stories. The narrator was very good but the story seemed to be too much filler. It didn't have to be that long and the author seemed to try hard to provoke his audience.

The church of less mess
I'm not sure where the reference to Stephen King came from, but I didn;t see any horror in this book. It was a good story.A new mythology,if you will.Narration by Glynn Holmes Jr was very well done. I was given this book free for an honest review.
