There’s no doubt about it: These kids are nerds. Awkward, unpopular, uncool as uncool can be—and yet, there’s something about these “nerds” that nobody else knows. These dweebs are actually superspies who use their dorky skills to battle the evil Hyena and other villainous baddies.

Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

Being a kid can really stink. And no one knows this better than Greg Heffley, who finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid, author and illustrator Jeff Kinney introduces us to an unlikely hero. As Greg says in his diary: Just don't expect me to be all "Dear Diary" this and "Dear Diary" that. Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won’t do and what he actually does are two very different things.

Story
Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret - at least, that’s what she thinks.... But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well...she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth....

Story
In this unique YA anthology, 13 acclaimed, best-selling authors team up with 13 influential BookTubers to reimagine fairy tales from the oft-misunderstood villains' points of view. These fractured, unconventional spins on classics like Medusa, Sherlock Holmes, and 'Jack and the Beanstalk' provide a behind-the-curtain look at villains' acts of vengeance, defiance, and rage - and the pain, heartbreak, and sorrow that spurned them on. No fairy tale will ever seem quite the same again!

Story
When Lyric Walker was 14 years old, her life was turned upside down when she witnessed a world-changing event - the arrival of the Triton, a five-nation race of warrior merpeople who walked out of the sea and camped on the beaches of modern-day Coney Island. Suddenly her neighborhood was home to a new minority group numbering in the tens of thousands. But the Triton's arrival also revealed a shocking family secret: Her own mother was a mermaid.

Story
It should have been a case like any other: a missing princess, a king willing to pay in gold for her return. But before he realizes it, private investigator Eddie LaCrosse, a slightly shopworn sword jockey with a talent for discretion and detection, is swept up in a web of mystery and deceit involving a brutally murdered royal heir, a queen accused of an unspeakable crime, and the tragic past he thought he'd left behind.

Story
When Kara Westfall was six years old, her mother was convicted of the worst of all crimes: Witchcraft. Years later, Kara and her little brother, Taff, are still shunned by the people of their village, who believe that nothing is more evil than magic…except, perhaps, the mysterious forest that covers nearly the entire island. It has many names, this place. Sometimes it is called the Dark Wood, or Sordyr's Realm. But mostly it's called the Thickety.

Story
Everything has a spirit: the willow tree with leaves that kiss the pond, the stream that feeds the river, the wind that exhales fresh snow. But the spirits that reside within this land want to rid it of all humans. One woman stands between these malevolent spirits and the end of humankind: the queen. She alone has the magical power to prevent the spirits from destroying every man, woman, and child. But queens are still just human, and no matter how strong or good they are, the threat of danger always looms.

Good, but not as good as I hoped.
Would you listen to The Council of Mirrors again? Why?
Yes, I'll listen again because it's the end of the series.
What did you like best about this story?
It wrapped up the series-long story.
Have you listened to any of L. J. Ganser’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I've listened to the entire Sisters Grimm series. L. J. Ganser did as well with this book as he has with the entire series. He's no Jim Dale (Harry Potter US version, Petter and the Starcatchers, etc.), but then, nobody is. His performance brings the story to life and makes for a fun listen on road trips.
Any additional comments?
This series is, to me, one book too long. The last book and this one should have been condensed into a single book, and then the series would have been just right. These last two books just seemed to drag compared with the others, but overall, the series is fun, imaginative, and very much worth listening to / reading, especially if you have children between 8 and 15 to enjoy it with. I'm in my 40's, and I still enjoyed it a lot. Each book has its own story that keeps them from being "more of the same" (for the most part), but there is a deeper story line running throughout the series that makes you want to keep going with the next book. I said above that the series is one book too long because the last two books depart from this pattern, and they both really only deal with the overall series story line, so they rely heavily on each other to tell the story. The others can be enjoyed by themselves. The series-long story is full of twists and turns, taking the listener on a ride that is fun and sometimes surprising. Overall, I recommend it to lovers of clean, entertaining stories that encourage and expand the imagination.

Kds & I listened to the series and loved it!
Kids kept asking for "more story" everytime we'd get in the car. I'm glad I finally found a series a mom, a 9y/o boy and a 7y/o girl can enjoy!!

Loved all of it. At first I was not a fan. It was a male narrator and about kids. But oh boy am I happy I kept at it. It was beautiful.

Favorite book ever!!!
This was my favorite book of the series. But there is something I don’t like about Sabrina: she treated her sister like a baby! It doesn’t take away the help & love Sabrina gave to Daphine. I love this book because it reminds me of my sisters and I.

Great series for the family...
If you could sum up The Council of Mirrors in three words, what would they be?
The sisters Grimm thought they were abandoned, maybe even orphaned... little did they know!
Any additional comments?
This is a series for the whole family. The second grader, the fifth grader, and the mom were all chomping at the bit for this 9th book in the series... we were not disappointed!

The Sister's Grimm has been a true treasure.
Would you consider the audio edition of The Council of Mirrors to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version yet, however, the audio edition was so good that I plan to purchase the entire series in print and keep them as a family classic to share for generations to come.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Council of Mirrors?
That is difficult to answer without giving things away, so I will try to keep it vague for those who have not read it yet. It was Sabrina's secret weapon that ended up saving the day.
What about L. J. Ganser’s performance did you like?
His unique inflections for each voice make you forget that there is only one person doing the voices.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Although this is a light story, where one wouldn't expect to be overly moved, there are plenty of heart warming moments and surprisingly a few that make you a bit a sad.
Any additional comments?
If you are looking for fun new adventure series to read with your children and even young teenagers I highly recommend this series. My child and I loved reading these, discussing the characters, the direction of the stories and debating which ones we liked best.

The final book... WOW!
Any additional comments?
We have really enjoyed this series. Sabrina is really a torn soul and her sister, Daphne, is a family joy. Punk is absolutely GRAVY and we have laughed out loud more than once.
We are somewhat sad to see this series go, the cliff hangers were really getting to us because we were ready before the book was released. Now that all the books are complete and ready to listen (in order) we think any family time can certainly be improved by listening to an audio book together.
If you don't mind staying in the Young Adult section, may we suggest Bras and Broomsticks? If you have a need to go on to the adult section, may we suggest David Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter series? Our entertainment side goes for funny. Both side routes will have you laughing!
