Publisher's summary
The police found my body buried by the creek. They used my old name. The name I shed when I was 8. I've been on the run since.
"This book isn’t a page turner, it’s a page burner. I turned the pages so rapidly that the pages would probably caught on fire if it had been a real book and not an eBook." - ★★★★★
What would you do if you read your body had been discovered in a mass grave? How would you prove you weren’t dead?
Jane Smith has been running from danger her whole life. That danger followed her everywhere, leaving a trail of death in its wake. When the mummified bodies of six girls are discovered in the wetlands of Los Angeles, Jane is surprised to learn one of the dead girls bears her name—the name she abandoned twenty-five years ago to go into hiding.
Detective Harriet Harper gets pulled into a case to make or break her career…if it doesn’t end her life. When the burial site of six mummified girls is discovered, Harri joins the task force created to bring justice for the dead girls. Forces outside her control threaten her reputation and her coveted position on the team as the killer sets his sights on her, taunting her to come and find him.
When a witness comes forward with details that take Harri in new directions, she finds herself moving ever closer to the dark center of a decades-old secret, one that many people would prefer to stay hidden. With her career in the balance and her life on the line, Harri forges ahead to bring a serial killer to justice before he kills again.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Story
Three months ago, Tansy Bloom quit monster hunting. Since then, she’s been trying to live a normal life (whatever that means), but ending up single, unemployed, and living on a boat outside her godfather’s pub definitely wasn’t part of the plan. So, when Tansy’s ex-husband – fellow monster hunter Rex Barclay – turns up like a bad penny and asks for her help with his latest investigation, Tansy reluctantly agrees. At first, the job appears to be a straightforward monster hunt – following a spate of large creature sightings, Rex believes a werewolf is on the loose in Norfolk.

In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

I am not a freak, although many people call me that. The night my father was murdered and I was left for dead, I awoke with the ability to "sense" things. Touching things can give me visions, sometimes horrifying, murderous ones. The bones of a murdered woman are unearthed and our safe small town is shaken to its core. Her killer was good at hiding the truth and after decades in the ground, any clues are gone—her murder a complete mystery. The only clues are the ones I can see.

Story
At first, they struggle to escape. Then a torrent of blows rains down upon their bodies until their eyes cloud over in final agony. The killer shows no remorse - just a twisted need to witness each victim's last terrified moments. Public defender Rachel Wainwright is struggling to reopen a decades-old case, convinced that the wrong man is in prison. Homicide detective Deke Morgan doesn't want to agree. But if Rachel's hunch is correct, whoever fatally bludgeoned young, beautiful Annie Dawson 30 years ago could be the source of a new string of brutal slayings.

Story
When she was only 16, Cassidy Buchanan fell for the 19-year-old bad boy in town, Brig McKenzie, who'd had his share of run-ins with both the law and the local women. Then a terrible fire killed Cassidy's sister, and Brig, the chief suspect, was forced to run away. Seventeen years later, an eerily similar fire seriously injures Cassidy's husband, Chase, who happens to be Brig's brother. With the earlier fire still an open case, suspicion turns to Cassidy, the only unharmed person connected to both tragedies.

The killer
It had me on the edge of my chair and stay up all night to finish this book. I just could believe that her brother was the killer.

Great murder mystery
The virtual voice leaves a lot to be desired. But the exciting story made up for it.

Bad AI Reading
AI Voice was really bad. There were a lot of unintelligible or mispronounced words. I did enjoy the story but next time I will read the book instead of listening to the AI Voice.

AI cyber babe sounds like a robot!
I listened to a good part of this book, but the monotonous AI cyber babe voice is like listening to a zombie. Audible, AI narrated books are not going to cut it! If that is what audible members have to look forward to, I'll go back to reading books.

Ruined by he last 30 minutes
Interesting premise, and well executed up to a point. Then it all careens off the rails into a far too swift ending to match the rest of the book. Virtual Voice narration needs to go straight to hell. I'd give it negative stars if I could. The mix ups in homophones and abbreviations were maddening. Made some scenes hard to follow.
