Publisher's summary

This 2-in-1 box set bundle contains books one and two of the best-selling Lee Callaway mystery series.

The Dead Daughter

Can a father murder his only child?

Kyla Gardener’s dead body is found on her bed one early morning. She had been stabbed multiple times. Her father, Paul, has blood stains on his shirt and his fingerprints are all over the murder weapon. Paul has no memory of what happened.

Kyla’s mother, Sharon, was not at home when the murder occurred. She was having an affair with her yoga instructor. Private Investigator Lee Callaway was also at the Gardener residence on the night of the murder. He had been following Sharon at the behest of his client, Paul.

When all evidence points to Paul as the murderer, Callaway takes on the case to prove his innocence. As he searches for answers, he uncovers a web of lies, secrets, and deceit.

The Gone Sister

How do you find someone who doesn’t exist?

Isaiah Whitcomb is found dead in a parked car. Isaiah is a promising athlete and he also happens to be Detective Greg Holt’s nephew. It’s personal for Holt and he will stop at nothing to find who is behind his nephew’s murder.

Private Investigator Lee Callaway is having a terrible day when Elle Pearson, a blind woman, appears at his door. Elle wants him to find her missing sister. The only problem is no one has seen or heard of her sister.

How is Isaiah’s death linked to Elle’s missing sister? And who is the mysterious stranger looking to avenge a betrayal from years before?

As Callaway gets closer to the truth he is faced with the biggest shock of his life.

The choice of narrator didn’t work for me.

The story was ok, although some is the twists seemed overtly contrived. But the biggest issue I had with these books was the narrator…pleasant enough voice, but just didn’t work with this material. It distracted me with weird inflections and several oddly pronounced words. I won’t listen to other books in this series if the same narrator is involved.

Lee Callaway Mystery set box 1& 2

So glad I chose this mystery box set, am looking forward to reading more of Lee Callaway. Enjoyed both books, the stories were good, the character of the detective is already coming alive to me. The narration is excellent.

Just ok

The narrator was actually my biggest issue here I believe. I’m sure some people love it but, to me he made several characters sound like Disney’s Goofy! I finished it because I felt like I had to, but wouldn’t do it again.

Narrator knows one voice, whiny.

It took everything I had to make myself finish these books. The storyline itself was OK; however, the narrator was terrible to listen to, all he knew how to do was make each person sound like they were whining. I will not be listening to these books again.
