Publisher's summary

When Dunstone, Ltd., offers Alex McAuliff, a geologist, $2 million to survey Jamaica's dark interior, there's a catch: No one can know Dunstone's involved. But British Intelligence finds out and warns Alex that the last survey team Dunstone dispatched vanished without a trace.

Now Alex knows too much, and he's a marked man from the moment he lands in Jamaica. But who wants him dead? Dunstone? A rival company? British Intelligence? In this island paradise, a beautiful woman might be a spy and Alex's only clue to survival is a single mysterious word: Halidon.

not Ludlum's best

Would you try another book from Robert Ludlum and/or Stephen Hoye?

Very intriguing narrative and suspenseful, up until the mystery of the Halidon was revealed to be another loss hidden tribe saga, BO HAHA. Too fantastical to digest.

Would you ever listen to anything by Robert Ludlum again?

yes

Have you listened to any of Stephen Hoye’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I think so

Could you see The Cry of the Halidon being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Anything can be made into a movie nowadays

Any additional comments?

nope

Creative setting and use of history for a thriller

Don’t agree with the review that it’s dated, sexist etc… it’s a spy novel, not enlightened genz self realization guilded by plot. Don’t look for that in a thriller. It’s a great yarn. Enjoy it.

Dated, boring, racist, sexist

Didn't finish it. The book is very dated, full of racist and sexist tropes. On top of this the story is boring.
