The Dance of Time is the sixth and final installment in the Belisarius saga from Eric Flint and David Drake. The overall premise is an advanced futuristic AI sent back in time to the sixth century to change the course of history and ensure the success of the Malwa empire. Another AI is sent to Belisarius, a famous Roman general of that era, to thwart those plans. Many alliances and strategies that Belisarius has been working on in previous installments come together, including the ‘kidnapping’ of a former foe’s family to ensure their safety as the Malwa empire begins to implode. In addition, Belisarius must ensure that the Malwa AI cannot resort to its past trick of transferring to another host.

Flint and Drake execute a masterful piece of storytelling combining advancements in military as well as other technologies (e.g. antibiotics), along with sophisticated military maneuvers, as well as complex alliances arranged by Belisarius and his wife.

The narration continues the excellent rendition with solid character distinction. Pacing is smooth.

It really is a very satisfying ending to this series. I confess that I have read this series several times and will probably listen to it again next year. It is science fiction, fantasy, alternative history and all twisted together in a series of subplots and story arcs that lead here. The characters are wonderful. Some you love, and some you love to despise. I cannot recommend this book series too highly.

Great ending to the series

WELL WORTH THE MONEY

In stark contrast to the boring Tide of Victory, Dance of Time was a gripping read and I loved it.

An excellent conclusion

The series got better as it progressed.

This one was pure predictable audience pleasing of the multiple story lines. Yeah good guys! Gory death for the bad guys and very little tension.

But it is a well done and pleasing read.

A feel good, if not predictable wrap up.
