No one is good enough for her son…

As a single mother, Annie has an especially close relationship with her son, Ben. They have always been together. Just the two of them. So, when Ben brings home his mysterious beautiful new wife, Daisy, immediately Annie doesn’t trust her. Who is this woman who has taken her son away from her? And what is she hiding?

She’ll protect him with her life…

When Ben disappears, suddenly Annie and Daisy are all the other one has. Alone in Annie’s big, remote house, just the two of them, the tension is rising. And like any protective mother, Annie will stop at nothing to expose her new daughter in law, and the secrets she is hiding…

Gripping and a Delightful Listen

I'd say the only thing keeping it from a five star review was that it was predictable. However, the writing is impeccable and the performances of both women make your feelings for both characters even more intense. Highly recommend!

Psychological twists

Good psychological thriller. Different timelines and personal stories come to a head in a haze of sedation, narcissism, and manipulation. So good!

Inredible

The story was well written. The characters were expertly brought to by both narrators. I truly enjoyed the performance.

Somewhat predictable but interesting

There are parts of the book that are fairly predictable but it does have enough to keep you going. I could identify with the main characters and their emotions were well described. The narration was pretty good and the book was well paced. It is not a masterpiece but fairly entertaining. The writing was good enough for me to download her other titles.

Interesting

The way the story unfolded was very interesting. The narrator did a good job and the story is somewhat surreal but may happen in real life. I look forward to reading again a Nina Manning book.

I’m only halfway through the book, but…

I must say that this book reminds me so much of “Die, Die, My Darling”, with Stephanie Powers and Tallulah Bankhead. This is one of my favorite films from the mid 1960’s.
It was very spooky and threatening.
I will wait and see how the book ends.
