Promising start, but suffered in translation

I just never really got into this book. I think a lot of the problems comes from the choppy phrasing, which I assume arises from poor translation and not the original narrative. Also, I feel this would have much more gripping if Eriksson had stayed to a strict "police procedural" format instead of veering off into psychoanalysis.

The narrator does a good job with the varying characters.
