Having exhausted pretty much all the NY, Philly, Boston ,Chicago, even Cleveland , true mob stories I was on the hunt for somewhere else . Well did I find a good one in Detroit . I had heard about the Purple Gang when in reading up on Capone & Chicago but only slightly mentioned . Here Burnstein goes into great detail & doesn't stop there . All the ethnic groups get a good telling & of course Hoffa is not left out . Fascinating stuff . There's a lot of names & nick names some may find to much but if you like stories about gangsters this can't be beat .

Good listen

As a Michigander, the mispronunciation of many words was a little disturbing , but other than that pretty good review of the history of southeast Michigan

History nicely explained

Very in-depth writing on a vast number of organizations. Kind of ended abruptly, but other than that a very good book.

Great info

A total history with everyone included. Including mobsters, black gangs, bikers, and general criminals. Excellent book!

Well written. Well read. A total history with all factions included. No wasted words.

I was expecting more insider knowledge on the purple gang since the author is a relative.... there wasn't much new that I didn't Lready know from other books on the gang. otherwise interesting book.

Good book on organized crime in the D

The author did a decent job of providing a brief history of a few eras. However, there were plenty of inaccuracies. mispronunciation of streets and overall "who cares" events. I couldn't finish this audiobook as it was incredibly boring.

Boring and somewhat inaccurate.

Good noise, if you're looking for a distraction, otherwise nothing you'll feel compelled to invest in. Couldn't have cared less about the characters, the stories, or the presentation. Despise when 20 names appear in the same sentence, like I can remember more than one

Meh, just noise
