My thoughts

I think this book is really interesting. I never really liked to read but this book I got really into. I think people that are in to wars and like to read about what happens on the past would really like this book. This book talks about what life was like in the concentration camps and what it was like, what all the symbols are and what people went through. If your family are Jews and you are going to a sadder don't complain how boring it is.

Informative, Engaging and Heartbreaking

My son was assigned this book to read in 5th grade and I was interested myself after reading a few chapters. I am not sure children will capture the full feelings evoked in this book— a feeling of overwhelming sadness about the horrible truth of the Nazi concentration camps- but it’s important that they know the history and have a place from where to start conversations. I cried almost the entire book and will talk to my son about this. Well written, well read, and a book all people should read.

Riveting but sometimes confusing

I listened to this novel with my 12-year old and 10-year-old. We all really enjoyed it, and felt the great sorrow of the Holocaust. Yet are comforted by the survivors who continue to share their story!

Very good book one of my favorites. Narrator did a nice job of bringing the characters to life.

Fantastic for my 8th graders

This recording is phenomenal. Rosenblat's voice is soothing and full of emotion. Yolen's story is captivating and pull's at even the toughest heart strings. I teach a beautifully diverse group of students and all of them love this story. I recommend starting with this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzsuL9U1a_k
and discussing the allusions to the story of Exodus.

Beautiful

One of the most wonderful books I've ever read, heart breaking, beautiful, and not Satanic as the title suggests.

Great book, shocking

It's an amazing book, but it's very shocking and a little confusing at times, mostly at the end.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Accurately read but distracting sounds.

Wonderful story telling. Great use of inflection throughout the story. Unfortunately, the sounds of the speakers mouth were distracting to me and I could hear an echo in the background. Otherwise, great narrating :)
