About this listen

When The Parlour opens up in town, domestic diva Sophie Winston finally has a place to satisfy her cravings for all things tea and crumpet related. And the shop serves as the perfect place for the ladies of the town to gather and gossip, especially since it's conveniently located right across the street from the new antique store run by the handsome and charming Robert Johnson.

But speculation around Robert really boils over when he's found dead - a victim of poisoning after attending a literacy fundraiser at The Parlour the night before. What Sophie learns about the man leaves a bitter taste in her mouth, and she'll have to strain out a killer from a strange brew of suspects.

Every book in this Diva series was wonderful to listen to. Every crime kept me wanting to listen a bit longer to try and figure it out. There was always a twist when I thought I had it. Would like more books to be written for the series. And as an extra, I learned quite a few things from both Diva’s advice column.

Loved series

These books are great easy listeners. The characters are great too. The only thing I find a little annoying is how every time she gets dressed she mentions about how her clothes are too tight or she is wearing pants with elastic bands. In the previous books it was once or twice but in this one it seems like it’s every time and kind of unnecessary.

Easy listening!

The Diva series keeps getting better and better. Absolutely adored Kevin, he really added to the story such a wonderful kid! Hope he makes a Return visit in other episodes.

If you could sum up The Diva Serves High Tea in three words, what would they be?

A perfect cozy.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sophie, of course! She's smart, just the right amount of nosy and a genuinely pleasant character to hang around for a few hundred pages.

What about Hillary Huber’s performance did you like?

Hillary Huber has fast become one of my favorite narrators. I love the voices she uses for each character and that she varies both tone and tempo. Her Natasha is fabulous and I love whenever Bernie makes an appearance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I remember chuckling several times and snorting at least once.

Any additional comments?

Love the series, the author and the narrator. The only reason I knocked off a star on the story is because there were a few far-fetched moments that screwed up my suspension of disbelief. Other than that, it was everything I need in a cozy: smart characters, funny moments and a good mystery.

Love This Series

Welcome back to Old Town! I love this series and can't wait for me. Natasha was a shock in this book, and I still feel she needs some interventions on some of her ideas. I was super disappointed in Wolf, as I have been for a few book but I'm sure he will eventually get better. I enjoyed all the tea facts and food suggestions. The murder was great and well thought out, I enjoyed the few twists and surprises throughout the book. Sophie really should be a detective and I love that she is becoming known for her talents. I love the whole find the killer gang and how they all want to pitch in.

Proper Tea
