About this listen

I’ve been abandoned by every man in my life—except for one.

He arrived at the outskirts of Riviana Star just in time, and not only saved me, but the people I’ve come to consider my own. He pledged to be at my side always—and made me make the same promise in return. My heart can’t hold onto the anger and resentment a moment longer—not when I want this man for the rest of my life.

Queen Eldinar and the elves are far more suspicious of him than they ever were of me, but they offer him what he wants—the location of the dragons—if he does something for them in return. A war is coming in their forest—an attack by the dark elves that want to evade the Realm of Caelum—and they want the Death King to defeat them.

The relationship between us has changed, an invisible rope tied in many knots binding us together. I’ve pledged my life to help him with his cause, to avenge the family that was so ruthlessly taken from him, not just because I want to free the dragons, but because I want him to have peace. He’s given that to me—and I want to give him the same.

A secret locked in the depth of my heart, I know my feelings for Talon are far beyond the physical. I can feel his soul next to mine when we’re together. When I picture life after the war, I’m not Queen of Scorpion Valley or the Northern Kingdoms—but Queen Rothschild of the Southern Isles.

But there’s something between us that Talon refuses to share. Something I can’t see—but something I can feel every time we touch. A distance that only flourishes rather than withers. A secret so heavy it sinks us in the middle of the sea.

This book is probably my favorite so far. I have not read the last book but out to start soon. This was interesting and romantic the death King talent. I know he has a lot of baggage and emotional trauma, but the way he’s written comes off as a bratty teenager, but but I still like him as a character. It is how the author writes him. Calista is very interesting I like her, but I don’t know I want something more from her. I like all the dragon stuff that was interesting. I think the queen is a bit I like her overall I really like this book. I can’t wait to read the last part.

Love it

I honestly picked this because it sounded good and had dragons in it. the narrators both did a fantastic job. I absolutely fell in love with the characters. I was rooting for them, and crying for them. ( literally) I can't pick a favorite from the series. I couldn't be more happy with spending my credits on this author.

love MF as a narrator he should have narrated the entire book. I don't really care much for the female narrator, never have really. she always pics up where she shouldn't and needs to read ahead more. I don't know but there is just something about her that grinds on my nerves and that is never a good thing when your a narrator. MF in my opinion has a better male and female voice than anyone who narrated today. He is by far the best narrator I have eve had the pleasure to listen to. I wish he did more books and I wish he did the entire series of this book. Had he done so I would have given this title 5 stars. It was a good story but he could have mad either excellent! I really like Penelope Barsettis work. a bit to much sex for my taste like most stuff in today's world and when that happens it just makes me want to skip thru them all. When you have to many sex scenes it just starts making all of the sex scenes boring and over done. the rarer those scenes are the better they are. to much of a good thing and all that. I feel like way to many writers use sex scenes as fillers because they run our of the good stuff that makes a story worth your time ans when that happens they just needs to take a break or something because I for one am getting so tired of it. when I was a new reader/listener it was fine because it was all new and exciting but now Im just sick of it and now need/want something fresh and different and or dark and I mean really dark but it's also hard finding a good narrator who really knows how to write the really good shocking and "bad" stuff that I for one can't get enough of.

Micheal F is my favorite narrator!!
