About this listen

Fae fantasy meets Vikings in this enemies-to-lovers romance about a broken ice-fae princess who must earn her Valkyrie wings, a villainous fire-fae who will stop at nothing to get his revenge, and an ancient war that could see their whole world burn.

Princess Madivia is broken. Her fae magic doesn’t work, her illness will kill her, and nobody knows she exists.
So when the gods select her to leave her tower in the Ice Court and train to be a Valkyrie at Featherblade, she is sure they’ve made a terrible mistake.
So is every other fae at Featherblade. All except the disgraced fire-fae Valkyrie, Kain. His burning gaze never leaves her. Nobody knows what he did to have his wings taken away, but he is as dangerous as the deadly world Maddy has been drawn into.
And she has the key to his revenge.
If he discovers her secret, it won’t just be Maddy’s life that is in danger. She knows she should avoid him.
But, the only thing harder than becoming a Valkyrie? Conquering her searing fascination with the unhinged fire-fae.

If she is to survive Featherblade, she must earn her wings. If she is to survive Kain, she must make a choice that could burn their world to ash.

This is the first book in the Flame Cursed Fae romantasy series, and is inspired by Norse mythology and sexy fae Vikings. It has villain gets the girl and obsessive burn-the-world-down-for-her (literally) hero vibes. The romance is slow burn and builds in steam and delicious tension.

Interesting concept

This book has a great concept, and really grabs you once character development starts kicking in for the antagonist. The only 2 problems being the performance of the female reader being extremely robotic, making the dialogue sound worse than it actually is, the fact that it ended too soon! It should have been about 50% longer, it felt like it ended in the second act. I enjoyed it and am now impatient for a sequel.

Why aren’t more people talking about this book!

I loved this book! Fast paced, short and easy read. The world building happens as the story takes off.
The FMC in this story has my heart. She’s an underdog and shows up for herself time and time again despite all odds. I can’t wait to start the next book.. starting now!
(The narration is a tad bit underwhelming)

Has potential

Like so many other said the story has really good potential but didn’t pick up until the last 30 minutes of the book. However, I will listen to the next one.

Good story

It seemed like it went way to quick. Glad book two was there but now I’m waiting for book 3. I feel like it was short but maybe that’s because it’s a good story 🤷‍♀️ can’t wait for book 3. I liked this series

Short and Incomplete, but Not Bad

This book is not really a full book, in my opinion. It does not wrap up any of the conflicts the main character is having...it ends in the middle. It's like a Part 1 of however many, but it's not complete. Usually, even if the story is going to span many books, each book has a plot that is resolved in this book, with more to add to an over-arching storyline. This just has the over-arching storyline and nothing to really give satisfaction to the end of this book.

I love this book!!

This book kept me on edge all the way through. It has been some time where I haven’t gotten bored of a storyline, but this one I read in a day. Thank you! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Great start to a new series!

Loved the storyline, and it ended way too soon!! The female narrator was a bit stiff and could use some improvement, but not so bad I couldn't listen. Hopefully, she'll improvement in future books.

Such a Riveting Sotry / Terrible Narrator

I loved this story it was intriguing and mysterious. I ate it up in a day. I loved the strength of the FMC even though no one had ever supported her. After DNF-ing quite a few books, this one has my attention. Can't wait for more.

I am appalled by the female narrator. She seemed robotic and bored. Everything was monotone. Eliza Raine's story deserved so much better.

The two star are because the dual narration was great and the male narrator was excellent.

Very very slow

Main characters are so so. Side characters are so so. Not much going on until the very end of the book.
