Publisher's summary

It has begun....

A fiery, unprovoked attack. War between mages and warlocks erupts. The Order stands on the precipice of destruction, while a deadly new leader rises to fight for control of the sinister Dark Druid brotherhood. For Jake Everton, the valiant young Earl of Griffon, and his brave band of friends, the stakes could not be higher.

On their own, hunted by maleficent enemies, the kids must rely on one another (and Red the Gryphon) more than ever to survive. But evil has its eye on Jake, and the mysterious prophecy swirling over his head leaves him wondering if he really could be the one to destroy the dragon lord and his ruthless followers—or if the darkness rising on all sides will swallow him up...

Great story as usual!

The story was amazing as usual. The ending was quite sad, but I can't wait to see how this all of the kids are going to handle their loss. I have high hopes for the new character "the black prince" and hopes he teams up with with Jake and their friendship will thrive.

The Dragon Lord a great book

Well, they keep doing it. I had the pleasure of reading the new book by EG Folley “The Dragon Lord” and found it to be well worth the wait. I discovered the series about three years ago and purchased the first book and fell in love with the series and could not get enough of it. I have really enjoyed reading and rereading it and was really look forward to seeing how they ended the series. In this book, the Folley’s have done a great job of keeping the readers spellbound. This is a book that you will not want to put down. If you have enjoyed the earlier book or have not read any of this series I highly recommend it. This is a great series for children or just children at heart.
This book has a new reader, but he does a great job. The voices are very easy to recognize and well done. Jake dose a great job keeping you wanting to listen. I have enjoyed the other books in this series and was sad to hear that the previous reader had left but was very impressed with Jake. I look forward to hearing more books read by him.
The Follies had originally announced that this would be the last book in the series but later posted they had decided to continue the series something I am personally looking forward to. I look forward to seeing what kind of trouble Jake and the crew can get into.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys fantasy stories or just looking for a good fun series to read.
I voluntarily read an Advanced Review Copy of this book and the views expressed are my honest opinions

This is really great

I read the print version of this book but having it read to me was really great. The new narrator is fantastic. His character voices are distinct and consistent and kept me engaged. I could see the story in my head like a movie. It's worth the listen.

At first I was afraid, I was petrified...

I'll be the first to admit that when I latch onto a narrator's portrayal of characters in a series, I tend to latch on hard! So when the narrator of the first several Gryphon Chronicles books did not return for The Black Fortress, I can admit that I didn't give the first new narrator a good chance. But I really felt that he didn't quite "get" the characters. So, needless to say, when there was yet another new narrator for The Dragon Lord, I was equally skeptical. But!

BUT!

Jake Benson gets it! He really does seem to understand who the characters are and the little nuances that he adds serve to enhance the story in ways I was missing in the last book. He brings life to the various scenes and really makes you feel what his happening at any given point in the story. I was angry when the kids were angry, I cried - again, knowing what was coming - at the climax of the story, I really felt the emotions that these kids and their mentors and their pets - I actually really loved Tazaroc and Magpen almost as much as Teddy and Red! - are going through,

If you're looking at this book, you already love the series so I won't go into that too much here, except to say that this story is sooo important to the overall arc and to Jake's growth heading into the final showdown with the new leader of the Dark Side. I was a little sad that we didn't get to "hear" the True Story of How Jake Chewed {Gael} Out in the author's notes at the end (side note, go get the ebook just to read that little section, it's hilarious!), but I am stoked to know that the story hasn't wound down to the end quite yet!

Fantastic next chapter in the Gryphon chronicles.

I love the story as it is very captivating and an amazing addition to the series. The narrator does a good job at bringing the characters to life, however, there are a few times where he changes the voice of a character. But overall a great listen.

Adventure and magic for ALL ages

We have been enjoying this series since my kids were young. (This book maybe a little dark for the youngest readers but good for 10+) And as teens they still love it as do I. We have read and listened to all the books so far. Love this newest narrator and his many voices. He does especially well with the devil/demon voices and the aristocratic accent. Great listen for long road trips!

Sinister & Riveting ‐ You Will Not Stop Listening!

Having read and listened to the Gryphon Chronicles from its inception, Book 7 Dragon Lord has unveiled itself to be a formidable installment, not only for its detailed character development and world-building imagery, dragons, exciting battle scenes, surprises and plot twists, but for its masterfully-crafted narration, of which, in my mind, elevated the book's intrigue and intensity!

Enamored with the many distinct voices, sounds and creative effects, I found myself immersed in the story and its characters. Just when you think you can imagine Jake's world of adventures, the narrator, Jake Benson, leads you deeper into the experience; the story that much more real and relatable. Jake Benson nailed every character with his interpretations coming into this universe at Book 7. The fact that Jake Benson shares the same first name as the main character just affirms a perfect union of story and narration!

E.G. Foley has done a superb job in accelerating Jake's adventures to a whole new level with higher stakes, challenging Jake's level of maturity in making tough decisions and that of his friends. Their world is in chaos filled with tragedy, dread (and dragons)! Darkness against the Light. New characters are introduced and minor ones enter into the fray, shaping the story arc into something new, fresh and quite creative! This audiobook leaves you wanting more in so many levels, so I look forward to the next listen, Book 8 Sorcerer's Army!
