About this listen

Ayden Dracre, the youngest son in a family of notorious sorcerers, has always respected dragons. That might change when he learns the history of the Sjau. Unfortunately, he is about to face an adversary not even the dragons can destroy, and this time, there is more than Ayden's life at risk.

When the future of Caldaca is on the line, the Sjau will have to set aside their differences to save magic. Merlin's powers of divination continue to grow, but will it be enough to defeat his greatest enemy yet? With the black star impending, Ayden must master dragon magic, save a dragon egg, and rally allies before time runs out.

Great 4th book in Series!!!

If you could sum up The Dragon's Price in three words, what would they be?

Delightful, entertaining read.

What did you like best about this story?

How people were able to forgive and forget past hurts without letting it interfear with the present tasks.

Which character – as performed by J. Scott Bennett – was your favorite?

Ayden - he was sometimes very long winded about things and needed to be reminded to stay on track. I feel like that at times.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I reallly liked the ending where Ayden works to relieve Merlin of his curse only to find out what the "price" for it was. Will be interesting to see if there is another book whether they swap situations or not.

The Dragons Price

This was a very good book,as were the first 3 in the series.Narration was excellent. The weirdness of the magic from different worlds being the same but different,is very chaotic. It was a fun read though.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Another Must Read!

If you could sum up The Dragon's Price in three words, what would they be?

Great for YA to adult

Who was your favorite character and why?

I can relate to Ayden. Especially when explanations become long winded! My mind tends to wonder too!

What about J. Scott Bennett’s performance did you like?

J. Scott Bennett is a wonderful reader. I love his voice and he makes the characters come alive.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Fun fantasy for all ages

Any additional comments?

I received this book as a gift from the narrator. I loved this whole series as well as the Elemental series from Rain Oxford

Review of The Dragon’s Price

A difficult review for me. I listened, enjoyed, but found the story to move a little slow for my liking. There is good depth of story, good character development, suspense and all the good features of a great book. It was just a little slow for my personal taste.

A good Standard Fantasy with humor.

I started this series with this volume. I did not know this was book 4 until I had nearly finished listening. I was never lost or bored or tired or annoyed. The plots not super deep and hard to follow nor are the characters too complicated. Bits of humor thrown in kept the story moving nicely. That makes this a great book to listen to while doing other stuff like dishes or driving. I really enjoyed listening and have added the other books in this series to my wish list.

4th book in a promising series

Fans of Terry Brooks will find this a very enjoyable read. This is the fourth book in the series and while I have read none of the others was able to pick it up and thoroughly enjoy it. I actually took this book because I like the genre but mostly because of the narrator who ranks among my favorites. The narrator as always do not disappoint and I found the material to be quite entertaining and I'm very interested in the rest of the series. Take Merlin, dragons, wizards witches seers, sorcerers Warriors mix it all together stir a pot and you are left with a Darned good story. Enjoy! Can't wait for the next one!

In this book we get to hear more of Ayden's and Merlin's story and how they have been connected for centuries, despite Ayden's young age. We also learn more about what it means to be a Sjao and how they were created.

This is one of my personal favorite stories I have ever had the opportunity to listen to. There's action and fantasy, but the story line is what keeps me coming back for more. I cannot wait for the next one to come out on Audible!

Also, this is one of my favorite narrators ever. Mr. Bennett's voice is so deep and rich that I can't help being drawn into any story that he narrates.

I do recommend listening to this series in order. Honestly this is the type of series that I would recommend family and friends to purchase the entire series at once because I love them that much (and I am sure they would too).

A good fantasy series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Often times it is very difficult to get into a series starting with the 4th book. This series, or at least this book in it, does an excellent job of providing an introduction that gives you a high level overview of the first 3 books so you're not just flying blind. The characters were engaging, the story was entertaining and the narration was very good. I am actually considering picking up the first 3.

Fantasy coming of age

I have really enjoyed the tales of young Ayden! It has been great to watch him grow and mature, and to see him learn to fight evil without losing his own compassionate nature. I have also enjoyed the humor in the books. Sometimes it seems that anything that can go wrong for Ayden does. (He could give Murphy a run for his money!) The narration was great and made it easy to distinguish the different characters, although the sheer volume of different characters sometimes made it hard for me to keep them all straight. I did find the epilogue describing the resolution of Merlin's curse rather anti-climactic. It didn't add anything to the story for me. Still, I highly recommend this audiobook, and it's good for all ages. There's no sex or profanity, just a minor youthful crush. The story contains great lessons, too, about being strong, resilient, courageous, loyal, and above all true to oneself.
