Harry Bosch has been given three years before he must retire from the LAPD, and he wants cases more fiercely than ever. In one morning, he gets two.
DNA from a 1989 rape and murder matches a 29-year-old convicted rapist. Was he an eight-year-old killer or has something gone terribly wrong in the new Regional Crime Lab? The latter possibility could compromise all of the lab's DNA cases currently in court.
Then Bosch and his partner are called to a death scene fraught with internal politics. Councilman Irvin Irving's son jumped or was pushed from a window at the Chateau Marmont. Irving, Bosch's longtime nemesis, has demanded that Harry handle the investigation.
Relentlessly pursuing both cases, Bosch makes two chilling discoveries: a killer operating unknown in the city for as many as three decades, and a political conspiracy that goes back into the dark history of the police department.

All the usual suspects appear from the series as well, making this a great revisit to the open unsolved unit.
Harry has his self doubt, insight, tenacity, and hard work to get to the root of the crimes and his nemises
I could listen to 10 more of these.
A great reader and a great listen

The story was great. I was constantly distracted by the narrator's diction, and found myself focused on the odd pronunciations of common words instead of the story.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Drop to be better than the print version?
Not necessarily. Only in that I got to drive while enjoying it.Who was your favorite character and why?
Pell. Not my favorite per se but the narrator did a very good job on his character! What about Len Cariou’s performance did you like?
He is fabulous! He captures the characters , has a wide range of inflection, making it both enjoyable and easy to follow. My first book by this author had a different man and I was so disappointed that I returned it! Thank goodness we can do that. This was definitely worth the money. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No. Not really that kind of a book.Any additional comments?
Just that i would absolutely buy this narrator again. The Harry Bosch novels have been a favorite of mine and after having been SO DISAPPOINTED in the narrator of The Black Box, my faith in audio books is restoredFabulous Narration
