Publisher's summary

Thirty years ago, a group of people realized that sometimes justice isn’t served by the law. They created the Avenging Angels, a masked and organized gang that was rooted deeply in the community, serving vigilante justice where the law failed. The Angels drenched the streets with the blood of the wicked and did not discriminate. Any who cheated the system but deserved punishment, found retribution at their hands.

Eight years ago, the top masks of the Avenging Angels were betrayed. A police liaison was murdered, the Angels were blamed, and a schism formed in the gang, separating the righteous from those who were desiring power and recognition above justice. In a singular strike, all the top masks were murdered, leaving New York City without their Angels.

As a single 21-year-old new mother, Gwen Grayson joined the New York Police Department (NYPD) following in her father’s footsteps. At 28, she loves her career, loves her former trainee turned partner/best friend, Francis “Van” Donovan, and loves her simple life balance of work and her daughter.

Now, it seems like the Angels are back killing gang members. Unfortunately, Gwen doesn’t believe the hype. There are too many discrepancies in the details. The case that haunted her father’s career might end hers as she fights to uncover the truth about the Avenging Angels while navigating her feelings for Van and still being on patrol in the Big Apple.

Internet, action, suspense

This book gives you an insight on how justice can be frustrating at time and where things are not as black and white as you think where it can lead to people wanting to take matters on their own hands, but at the end justice prevails. Great job on the author developing the plots and tying into a surprising ending. The narrator did a great job and the comical scenes had me laughing.
