Publisher's summary

Travel to the Regency era with a New York Times best-selling author's novel of "irresistible romance" (Eloisa James), in which a woman looking to recover a stolen painting accidentally kidnaps a duke instead.

Chloe Wynchester is completely forgettable - a curse that gives her the ability to blend into any crowd. When the only father she's ever known makes a dying wish for his adopted family of orphans to recover a missing painting, she's the first one her siblings turn to for stealing it back. No one expects that in doing so, she'll also abduct a handsome duke.

Lawrence Gosling, the Duke of Faircliffe, is tortured by his father's mistakes. To repair his estate's ruined reputation, he must wed a highborn heiress. Yet when he finds himself in a carriage being driven hell-for-leather down the cobblestone streets of London by a beautiful woman who refuses to heed his commands, he fears his heart is hers. But how can he sacrifice his family's legacy to follow true love?

"Erica Ridley is a delight!" (Julia Quinn, New York Times best-selling author of the Bridgerton series)

Absolutely superb!!!

It's funny, charming, romantic, and erotic. It's difficult to find an entertaining work with two of these qualities, let alone all four. I can't wait to read more.

Stole My Heart

The Duke Heist is a wonderful start to a new series. The story moved slow at times, but that felt necessary in order to set up background and establish world building for the series. I loved the plot and characters. This story felt fresh. It had introspective moments, suspense, and definitely feels. The unique family of diverse characters was welcome and intriguing. I can’t wait to see more of these zany Wynchesters.

The narrator did a fantastic job of differentiating between character accents, voices, and inflection of tone. Their performance added depth and imagery to the story.

Heist!

What a good book! I loved it. I wondered often if it we’re going differently than I had guessed, and fell in love with so many of the characters.
I admit, the ending hints at a spin off were so totally at odds with regency England and with the previous hours I spent with this book, that I didn’t run to find the next book like I might have just a moment before. But I think that’s a very personal thing….

The narration was very well done.
The heat factor, had it moments in the sun.
And I certainly don’t regret the credit.

Ho Hum

I finally gave up at chapter 10 because I couldn't figure out what the plot really was. I think it had something to do with a painting.....but the author threw in different sub plots. Very confusing...and annoying. As for the characters....also annoying.

Had high hopes, but didn’t pan out

After reading the plot summary, I was eagerly looking forward to listening to this book, stuck with it until 3/4 of the way through, hoping the story would go somewhere. When I realized there was sill 2 hours to go, I switched to another book. It is long and meandering. The hero and heroine come together, after supposedly distaining each other, much too quickly.
