There was much to like about the story, such as adventure, interesting historical references, and well developed characters.
Unfortunately, it also showcased a really dumb FMC! No real woman who appeared to be so determined and strong-willed would make such ridiculous decisions. I wish the author would have made the situations she found herself in more beyond her control rather than making her out to be such a half-wit. I felt too duplicitous. In fact. I couldn't stand her when she was in the heat of danger because she acted so stupidly. She never even cries out for help... it mades no sense.

The narration was excellent, so I think perhaps it saved the story from my rati g it average.

Good but DUMB Female Main Character!

I was impressed with the author’ s tenacity to research strange but true events in history and weave an enjoyable story. I thought this one was much better than the first one in the series- although I enjoyed that one as well. No sex scenes in this story until the very end there is a mention of it almost in passing. Well done

Very enjoyable

I felt bereft after the story completed because it felt like the story spent too much time on the murder plot and not enough on the evolution of the main characters relationship. It felt like the writer jumped to conclusions near the end of the book instead of including a natural progression throughout.

Decent but several plot holes

It took a while to get into Daniel because he was so set in his ways, but the story was good and kept me guessing

A great romance/adventure novel! I loved the depth of characters, and storyline with its twists and turns. The cherry on top is that Justine Eyre is sublime!

The narrator is wonderful. I’ve heard her before and I’m always excited to find a book I want with her reading it. I enjoyed the story too. Romance and intrigue is always nice while doing the boring things in life like cleaning, data entry or driving.

Fun romance, great story
