Publisher's summary

When your heart makes a wish, even impossible dreams can come true.

Viola

After years of working for my family's business, I'm finally back in college and ready to chase my dream of becoming a perfumer. It seems like the stars are all aligning when Chancellor College invites a preeminent French fragrance expert to speak at a symposium. Everything is working out just right, as long as I can continue to ignore my growing feelings for a certain hippie beekeeper. That, it seems, is turning out to be easier said than done.

Rayne

The elders sent me on a mission to Chancellor to help Alice, owner of the local bagel shop, find true love. So far? Well, not so good. The bees and I have to double up our efforts if we have any hope of helping our girl find the road to happiness. While I know Alice should be my priority one, my heart, however, seems to have a mind of its own. If I could just get Viola Hunter out of my mind, I could focus on my task. That, it seems, is turning out to be easier said than done.

The Fairy Godfather is a fractured fairy tale. Enjoy this twisted retelling of the classic Cinderella story.

Lose yourself in Poppy Lawless' enchanting town of Chancellor, a magical place where fairy tales can come true and happily ever afters always reign supreme.

The Fairy Godfather is a standalone novella and as part three of The Chancellor Fairy Tales, a series of romantic fairy tales for adults. This novel can be heard on its own, but you'll get the most enjoyment from this series if the works are listened to in order.

Not your normal Cinderella

I loved getting to hear about love for the fairy god father for once. Usually the story focuses on whoever is the "godchild"; but this was a nice twist on the usual. Hollie did a wonderful job voicing Viola and Rayne. The bits of Cinderella splashed in here and there made the story even more wonderful to listen to.

The Bees Knees :)

What a sweet and charming tale . . . and a magical little town, Chancellor, on the shores of Lake Erie, its filled with other worldly beings . . . who want nothing more than to help their human neighbors along . . . So far, The Bee Charmer is my favorite . . . Clean, romantic, leaving just enough to the imagination . . . I've come to care a lot about the folks of Chancellor, the quaint shops that cater to locals and tourists, and I surely hope there will be more in the series . . . for we all deserve a little twinkle in our lives :)

Cute and sweet story

Great Christmas present. I received this audio book free for an honest review. I have read other Poppy Lawless books and have enjoyed them all, to include this one. A little romance and magic is a great mood booster. I have listened to the two previous books, but it is not necessary to enjoy this one. The author does a great job of developing the characters. I don't care for Hollie Jackson as a narrator. The inflection in her voice does not seem appropriate for being a narrator of this type of book. It detracts from this cute story.

Not my normal.... interesting and good though

Narrator was kind of monotone. There was inflection and distinctions between the characters. Enjoyable.... want to hear rest of series. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Love and dab of magic that will touch the heart

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! If you are one to enjoy sweet stories of blossoming love with a hint of magic to help find the love that's already there. This is for you!

Any additional comments?

*This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review at my request.

Rayne is trying to help his dear friend Alice find her love. He's got the honey bees help and working his magical spells. He just needs to stay focused on helping her, but he feels drawn to another and his focus strays slightly. Viola is back to college after time off helping with her family's winery. Viola is ready to move forward in what she wants to do, perfumery, and will likely miss this lovely town. But there's another thing holding her attention and will he understand what she wants to do?

Hollie is a voice I've come to enjoy. She gives us the personalities of the characters as she voices their thoughts and voices when speaking. Hollie voices a few characters with an accent in this book as well. Nicely done. Hollie does do well with the sweet moments also, helping my heart to flutter when it needs to.

Poppy's books in this series have been heart touching, each and every one. This one ranks with the other two books, though I didn't tear up as I did in the first book, The Glass Mermaid. But I love the touches of magic and how all come around to find their true love. The fairy tale feel to those special moments with another.

Poppy is talented in blending the people she pairs. They may not think they are alike, but they do blend together with their likes and what they do along with personalities. The story is smoothly written with a flow you'll feel in your heart.

I would love to live in a small town with this much magic and love. It's just touches of magic to help the love that's there blossom, but it makes my heart swell. I just love these stories! This one had a touch of Cinderella at the ball feel at the end.

Seriously, these are just the sweetest books. I love the feeling I get from them. You know they are HEA but you can't help wanting to see how they stumble there and how things are righted for them. One of the best things with this book, we see how other couples are doing. We see a touch of the couple from The Glass Mermaid, but see more of how Horatio and Julie are doing, who were in The Cupcake Witch. We also see a potential pairing of another couple! And possibly future recipients of future books? There are a few mentioned that could have their own stories.

I will always be waiting for more books in this series and town!

Enchanting Romantic Fairy Tale for Adults

Any additional comments?

The Bee Charmer is a very enchanting short story that is basically a romantic fairy tale for adults. It is the third story in the Chancellor Fairy Tales by Poppy Lawless and it is an extremely enjoyable light-hearted listen. There is definitely a place for short stories and this is a very good one at just under three hours. It can be easily enjoyed during a commute to and from work or during one afternoon.

The story centers around Viola (Horatio’s sister from the second book in the series, The Cupcake Witch) and Rayne (Horatio’s best friend). Viola is an outstanding manager at her family’s winery business, but she dreams of becoming a perfumer. After she assists with accommodations and transportation for a preeminent French fragrance expert who is speaking at her college, her dreams seem to be coming true when he offers her a highly coveted internship in France. However, she is reluctant to accept it after she starts to get closer to Rayne because she’s afraid to lose something so special. Like her, Rayne is distracted from most things in his life due to his strong feelings concerning Viola. Thankfully the ending is perfect with hope and everlasting love to look forward to.

I listened to the Audible version of the story narrated by Hollie Jackson. She did a fantastic job narrating, as she did with the first two books in the series. She brought the characters to life giving each one their own distinct voice, both male and female characters. She also has great intonation and pace, making this a thoroughly entertaining experience. Brava!
