About this listen

Romeo and Juliet meets Hallmark Christmas movie in this steamy romp about star-crossed nonlovers caught up in a fake romance that could change everything they know in a real big way.

Faking an engagement to my secret high school crush was not on my to-do list when I landed for a short visit home. But when Amanda Anderson announces that she’s my fiancée, I take a leap and play along with the farce.

Why? Because the Capulets and Montagues have nothing on the Andersons and Silvers of Tinsel, Michigan. In the name of bringing peace to our Christmas-themed hometown and ourselves, we’ll play the part of Romeo and Juliet.

If our relatives think we’re in love, they’ll have to end this ridiculous feud. Right? Amanda’s a professional dog walker, and I’m an engineer who loves dogs—how hard could it be to show our families what else we all have in common?

The heat and this town’s infernal holiday cheer are messing with my head, though. And once we start making our fake wedding plans, I can’t seem to keep my heart out of it.

This is how you do a Fake Relationship!

Wow! This story has it all from the small town vibes I love with a twist, to a high school crush turned fake relationship, and to top it off feuding families! What better reason to fake a relationship than to heal the feud between two families who have made life difficult for everyone in their small town. And if you can get the happy ending all the better! This was one of the best fake relationships I have read! Loved it!

Witty and cute

Loved it! It was slightly different than the traditional fake engagement which made it refreshing. There was also a little bit of mystery. It’s a slow burn. The narrators were perfect.

✨thoughts✨
What a hilarious story this was. Just like a Hallmark movie! Fed up with their families constantly bickering, Amanda Anderson and Dane Silvers decide to fake their engagement to put an end to the feud once and for all. Little did they know that this ruse would spiral into chaos as their families now compete to plan their wedding.

𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐞 harbored a secret crush on Amanda since their high school days, but their families' rivalry made it difficult to connect. Their chemistry was undeniable, and there was a magnetic attraction between them. I adored Dane's cool and collected demeanor, which contrasted perfectly with Amanda's outgoing personality.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 dual narration by CJ Bloom and Connor Crais was simply fantastic. I was utterly impressed by their storytelling. And the epilogue narrated by Connor had me in stitches! 🐶

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥, if you're a fan of a modern twist on the Romeo and Juliet concept, complete with humor and heartwarming moments, then this charming story is a must-listen.

Such a Fun Story!

When Dane Silver quietly observes Amanda Anderson as she crawls through his sister's window one hot summer night and contritely confesses that she has just told her grandmother that she is engaged to him, she is not prepared for his response. Their two families have been feuding for over a century and no one knows the reason why. Dane thinks that it is time to end this feud and that their engagement is the perfect reason for the families to make peace.
This is not as kooky as some of author Pippa Grant's books, but is hilarious nevertheless! I love this story. I love the sweet characters. I love the determination and strength the lovers lend one another as they tackle their toughest relatives and delve into the mystery of what started the feud. This is a book full of joy!
Excellent narration, too!

Cute

Retelling ( of sorts) of Romeo and Juliet with a Christmas twist! Fast-paced and super cute would recommend for anyone who loves small town, holiday hallmark type stories.

Xmas-themed hometown, family feuds, fake engagemen

Coming home, Xmas-themed hometown, ending family feuds, fake engagement, rom-com, and hot spice.

This book was so great from the start. The setting was perfect; I loved seeing all the little quirks about their Christmas-themed hometown. The main characters had known each other growing up, so the history was there even if they hadn't seen each other lately; it was hilarious how they met again. Seeing them move from friends to figuring out that they wanted more was so sweet and spicy! This was an all-around classic rom-com spicy book that had all the characteristics that hit the right spots so that when you are done reading, you are fully satisfied. Heart, soul, laughter and hotness. I loved that neither of the main characters had to give up their dreams and they were able to make it work for them and even for others in their families.

This is a complete stand-alone and can be read without having read any other books by this author. But once you do, you will want to read all of them! (check her website for reading orders ; ) )

** I listened to the audio of this book and loved it. I think that the narrators did a fantastic job. I love the audio because I think that it helps to connect you to the characters even faster than when just reading the book. You get more heart out of it.

Another win for Pippa!!

Pippa Grant is most definitely one of my top three romcom writers!! Her books always hit exactly where they should, and she is incredible at that.

Even though it's not Christmas-focused, it takes place in a town called Tinsel, MI. Dane and Amanda went to school together but are total opposites in personality. When a "fake engagement' lie is spewed, they decide to use it to end the century-long family feud between their families. And we all know what is to come in the scenario. What we don't know is the hilarious banter between all the characters and, of course, Chili, the laziest pooch around.

One of the things I love about PG books is how they feature all different kinds of animals and pets! The bonus epilogues from them make her books shine!

4.75 rounded up stars!

Excellent storytelling and narration!!

Welcome to Tinsel where every day is a celebration of Christmas and yet another opportunity for Dane and Amanda’s warring families to continue their multi-generational family feud. Dane and Amanda stumble into a last minute and overly ambitious plan to end the hostilities and the resulting chaos and burgeoning attraction between them is quite appealing. Both characters are people I’d like to meet, both have personal reasons for going along with the fake engagement ruse, and both find themselves hopelessly attracted but are afraid to admit it. In true Pippa style there are plenty of quirky characters, improbable yet hilarious hijinks and a delicious slow burn attraction that kept me entertained from start to finish. Dane’s lazy dog Chili stole every scene he was in and I loved the epilogue which is written from Chili’s POV. Both CJ Bloom and Connor Crais gave heartwarming narration performances but it was Connor’s hilarious vocal interpretation of Dane’s lazy dog Chili that I will remember the most. What a great way to kick off the Christmas season!
