Publisher's summary

Book 2 of The End Times

When the Emperor is lost, it falls to Reiksmarshal Kurt Helborg to return to Altdorf, capital of the Empire, and prepare to meet the forces of the Ruinous Powers in a final battle for that ancient city.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Not only does this novel chart the apocalyptic battle for the very heart of Sigmar's realm, but it brings back heroes and villains from across the Warhammer mythos and reunites the Empire in a most unexpected way…

THE STORY

The End Times are coming.

With the hordes of Chaos marshalling in the north, Emperor Karl Franz leads his armies in defence of his realm. But when the worst happens, Reiksmarshal Kurt Helborg must return to Altdorf, the capital of the Empire. There, he must steel himself and prepare his soldiers to defend the jewel of the Empire from the corrupted advance of the forces of Chaos.

As plague spreads and the defences weaken, all seems lost—until help arrives from a most unexpected source... if Helborg can bring himself to accept it.

Written by Chris Wraight. Narrated by Andrew James Spooner. Running time 13 hours 18 minutes (approx).

Must listen

The Fall of Altdorf is a tragedy that keeps you hoping the entire way, and seething detail into both the war and the minds of the fighters makes for a breathtaking experience only heightened by the amazing voice of the reader. I will listen to this again!

Louen Leoncour is a beast!!!!

Another amazing performance by Spooner that encapsulates the story of mankind’s two greatest sovereigns that truly made me empathize with their weariness, and despair

Great Narrator

If they only had made three books outa this it would be better, there was so much more that could been added. It's not Mr Wright's fault either. And Mr Spooner did a AWESOME 👍👍 job love how he does the voices.
This is one of my favorite fantasy settings Im like everyone else I wish it was still around getting more stories wrote In it.
Hope the Lord of the End Times comes out on Audible I've read it but I wanna hear what Mr Spooner does with it can't wait

Not what I expected

I despise the notion of the end times, it is depressing, and I lose all of my favorite characters. But there is no denying that this was a great story, and while it is depressing, it is unapologetically Warhammer.

My favorite warhammer 3 story and performance. Wow

It was a great listen. One of the best this year. It might not be much for someone new to the Warhammer universe but to me, someone that spent hundreds of hours reading about it and playing warhanmer total war it was amazing.

Epic

Sublime character development, jumping from Karl Franz to Vlad von Carstein and on to the bothers of Chaos - all pleasantly presented by the narrator.

Detail in plague characters & duels

The intricacies and details depicted during key duels in the midst of large scale battles was excellent. The texture and odor descriptions of plague characters throughout the entire story was phenomenal. The personalization of Helborg, Martak and other key defenders was incredible.

Excellent series on a par with gotrek

Excellent series, great story and brilliant narration, you may struggle without a base knowledge of the old world for all the characters and positions but even without it it’s a very enjoyable story
