About this listen

Since the dark days of the Great Awakening, the scattered remnants of humanity have clung to a bleak existence, surviving howsoever they can, no matter what the cost.

Tamra, a voivode of the Rictus clans, fights one last, desperate battle for the survival of her tribe, the Drak. Now her people face their most relentless enemy ever - the lumbering minions of the Plague God. Where is their lord Nagash, the Undying King, when his people need him most? As the gods and their servants vie for power in the Mortal Realms, Tamra is drawn into a deadly game between life and death, as beings long thought gone start to exert their powers once again.

Amazing book, I always love when they focus on a story separate of the Stormcast.

Nice to heard a story not about the Stormcast

The narrator, Emma Gregory. really nailed the characters in this book! look forward to seeing more from her.

Another amazing Josh Reynolds book. I can see me buying all his books.

perfect for anyone that loves the mortal realms, especially Shyish and Nagash & his mortarchs.

Great AoS Story

A surprisingly compelling story, that gives life (pun intended) to the people of the realm of Death and to the servants of Nurgle.
The exploration of ritual ancestor worship combined with necromancy gives credibility to the workings of the realm of Death.

Loved the characters. Tamra, Neferata, Arkhan, Nagash, Festerbite, and Wallgus were always a joy to listen to. I will miss them and I hope further stories to be published within their story arc.

More than expected

Great characters having reasonable goals from their perspectives. Story flows very evenly without the reader getting uninterested. Narration is very good as well.

best warhammer book on my opinion

Arkhan the Black is the best character in the realm of death. Neferrata was fun too. I wanted more from the story and Nagash, it felt underwhelming for a self titled book to not show him more. There was more road to use with the life and death narrative. Narrator had amazing range and skill.

Needs more Arkhan. Interesting antagonist.

Buy this audiobook, for the law of Nagash shall not be broken! If you do he will get pissy!

All will return to Nagash!

I love the Death storylines so I figured I'd enjoy this one as well.

I was hesitant about whether I'd enjoy this as much with a female reader. Typically readers for Warhammer books are male so I wasn't sure how it would sound to have a female voice act male dialogue. I was pleasantly surprised. I will now consider Emma Gregory among my favorite audio book performers. Her work on this title was exquisite. You can picture the characters she voices easily and specifically. She also acts out the emotions powerfully. The female characters are phenomenally portrayed and the male characters are far better than the inverse with male readers.

Definitely worth a listen. Very fun story and quick listen.

Emma Gregory has surprised me, in a great way!

It is always a treat to hear stories about characters during a time such as the Age of Chaos. I loved the concept of human civilizations hosting non evil necromancers and I want more of them. Great voice acting! Emma Gregory is perfect in other stories about Nefarata.

I want more stories like this

Half of it was nagash giving himself a pep talk. at least the nurgle invaders made things interesting.

It was ok.
