About this listen

Discover the gripping story of a young boy struggling to find his place in a world where nature itself has turned against humanity in the unforgettable conclusion to the Rampart trilogy.

What will the future hold for those who are left?

Koli has come a long way since being exiled from his small village of Mythen Rood. In his search for the fabled tech of the Old Times, he knew he'd be battling shunned men, strange beasts and trees that move as fast as whips. But he has already encountered so much more than he bargained for.

Now that Koli and his companions have found the source of the signal they've been following - the mysterious "Sword of Albion" - there is hope that their perilous journey will finally be worth something.

They're searching for a way to help humanity fight back against nature. But what they'll find is an ancient war that never ended....

Enjoyable book.

I liked the believable people and times created by this author. I also appreciate how many characters came across as ignorant and intelligent all at once. This is not easy to convey by an author oft times. Really enjoyed the twists.

a nice little journey

What is consciousness? What are the attributes and faults in humanity? Is there a way to exist that transcends our humanness?

A rich and well developed story

I recommend that the entire trilogy be read. Also, the performances were wonderful. I enjoyed all three parts equally.

Very different presentation

This is not like anything I have read before. The characters are flawed, a very believable realistic group of individuals. Told in 1st person narrative style. It was great!

A perfect trilogy!

Beautifully written with wonderful characters. Loved the story in all its complexities. And the narration could not have been better.

One of his best works

I love every single thing Mike Carey has ever written. Fell in love with his work during Lucifer and never stopped reading. This review comes after listening to this trilogy for a second time, and it’s just as awesome as it was the first time. Actually a little better because I didn’t have to wait to listen to the last book!!! Thanks Mike!!! You rock!!!

Had misgivings...

clearly from the Star rating I thoroughly enjoyed it. All aspects were excellent.

A Fantastic Conclusion!

This entire trilogy has been such a fantastic ride. From the authors handling of dialog, world building, mystery, and character arc to the narrators perfect performances, I couldn't be more satisfied. I am looking forward to reading more M. R. Carey in the near future!

Koli

I think the books got better as they went along. The characters are fantastically drawn and while clearly a fantasy it draws on the humanness of these people hundreds and hundreds of years in the future.
