About this listen

Jefferson Wellman is a lawyer and has everything - such as money. He also has a particular taste when it comes to pleasure. And what Jefferson doesn’t have he can purchase.

His friend, Richard, visits him at his office one day with a contract and an invitation for a fetish auction by a new company. Bad Pain Entertainment guarantees to have what Jefferson is looking for...a "ponygirl". But when Jefferson shows up for the auction located in a remote wooded area, things don’t go exactly as planned: Richard never arrives, Bad Pain’s personnel are a little peculiar, Jefferson wakes up missing a few fingers, and the rest of the attendees are dead.

Jefferson believes he has the knowledge to keep his reputation from being ruined. But what he doesn’t know is he is now the focus of a new kind of fetish.

Fetishists? More like vanilla missionary horror

If you’re looking for something really disgusting and screwed up, don’t even bother with this book. It’s not BAD but it’s honestly vanilla compared to what you can find for free on the internet if you know where to look. There’s tons of gory, twisted, sadistic, mutilation porn fiction out there that’s better written than this.

I enjoyed the mystery at the beginning and was hoping it would have been drawn out a bit longer. The other mysteries are never answered, and I was left feeling like I’d wasted my time a bit. The main character wasn’t awful enough to want to see put through more cathartic pain, but he wasn’t like able enough to really care if/ he escapes the horrors he has in store. There are two points in the story where he just keeps defecating and urinating all over himself and I really couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the absurdity of it all. It felt like a bad dream diary of sorts, put into novel form.

The story wasn’t strong enough to keep my interest and the disgust factor was too mild to make up for the rather bland story. I’d skip this one and google around for the same type of fetish horror this book promised but ultimately, didn’t deliver on.

Tapping into your dark side

Jefferson is not your typical protagonist. Misogynistic and domineering, he's hard to love. So it is almost with glee that we dive into his misadventures with a group that advertises pleasure and pain. Duregger does a great job of bringing voice to our unlikeable main character, as well as the mysterious She that he comes upon.

I couldn't finish

The reader sounds like Ben Shapiro and it really throws me off. I've heard good things about the story but couldn't get passed the fourth chapter and the main character is unnerving and I can't find a single reason to sympathize with him. Also some things in the book are supposed to sound sexy but just come off as gross (not fetish wise, like body part wise)

Not sure what I expected

I kinda went into this one blind. It was alright and didn’t really do what I had expected.

Sex/Torture

Extreme sadistic actions/horror and at times hard to get into but still enjoyed listening to it. Jefferson seemed like normal guy with devious sexual drive and ends up regretting his desires after he joins the Fetishes who tortures people. Recommend if you enjoy torture horror and sex. Well…

I really wanted to like this, and I didn’t hate it. But I felt like the beginning was a drag and the third act just kinda dragged and annoyed me. Interested to see future projects from the author but this was just ok

The Fetishists

When Jefferson goes to a fetish auction, he finds more than he bargains for. As he goes full out and enjoys himself Jefferson is thrust into something bigger and scarier than he could ever imagine. Things go so far off the track that there may never be a way back.

Jefferson’s story is not for the faint hearted and does not always make sense. In the beginning it jumps back and forth too many times between what is happening now and what happened the night before. The story has Jefferson in many different scenarios that you have no idea how he got there. A lot of details are hinted at but left open, so the listener really has no idea who is tormenting Jefferson and why. Jefferson comes off as so unlikable in the beginning making it hard to feel anything for him when the tables are turned. Many details are repeated throughout the story from his choice of drink to his missing fingers which quickly becomes monotonous. I would have enjoyed more depth to the story and the characters. The idea for the plot line was a really interesting one and I think that if it and the characters were fleshed out some more it would be more enjoyable. Once we get into the second half of the story it flows better and you can see that the author has some talent. The book ends abruptly, and listeners are left with more questions than answers.

This is absolutely not for everyone.

This is absolutely not for everyone. The description is incredibly intriguing which is why I wanted to give it a go but I did not expect the gruesome horror that awaited within. If you're a fan of Eli Roth gore-porn films then you will probably love this sadistic tale. If you are like me and get queasy at the description of someone having their eyes sewn shut with twine, then you really need to avoid this one.

Sean Duregger did a great job narrating such a gory book. I do not envy him.

entertaining enough

entertertsining but there are a lot of unanswered questions and the story didnt really make sense. if you just want some senseless violence and depravity (which I enjoy) you may like it. just dont expect any explanations in the end.

huh?

I really enjoyed this book iat the start. Though I'm not a fan of past and present writing the author did a good job part.
But then the book that weird. . I am no stranger to weird books. I do tend to love them. Sadly though this book made no sense. It left me going huh? The writer tented to use a thesaurus way too much.
I did listen to the whole book hoping that all the un answered questions would be answered Sadly that did not happen.

Narration was good and I would definitely listen to him read another book..

I voluntary asked for this book and left my honest opinion
