About this listen

As Hanna and Alex begin to settle into their new life together on Pawley's Island, a mysterious death and the return of a ruthless rival sends them off on a perilous journey to bring him to justice again and find out how and why Ally Combes died at The Fire Tower.

Hanna and Alex risked their lives to put mob boss Xander Lacroix behind bars. When they learn of his early release from prison and one of his henchmen starts a relentless campaign of harassment and revenge, they both find themselves again on the precipice of chaos and danger.

The alarming death of a local woman in Alex's hometown of Dugganville leads to a surprising chain of events that quickly escalates into a deadly struggle with the dark forces of crime and corruption in the Low Country of South Carolina.

Full of action

I like the action and suspense. The narration is tastefully done. Keeps the reader anxious to read the next book in the series.

Another great addition to the Hanna & Alex series!

Michael Lindley has written another super novel in this series. This is the sixth book. For the most part each can be listened to as a standalone however I prefer listening in order because there is a continuously developing relationship between the two main protagonists.
This book has an antagonist from a previous book who had been sent to prison. He is being released very early due to his attorney getting him out on a technicality. The man had been a threat to both Hanna and Alex. Almost as soon as he is released there’s a murder, a number of kidnappings and a dead raccoon is left on Hanna’s car. Unfortunately knowing and proving who committing these crimes are very different things.
Emily Sutton Smith does a wonderful job narrating. She is one of my favorite female narrators.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

slow

This book in the series seemed a bit slow, but it was still a very good story. I'm looking forward to the next book to see what happens next. The narrator is excellent.
