About this listen

Words matter because words become matte...

Ignacio House goes to math class and soccer practice every day, you know, like other average kids. Fixing bikes, watching movies, walking home after school with Isabel...Life is pretty normal in middle-of-nowhere Colorado. At least until Ignacio wakes from cryogenic suspension to discover that he's been asleep for a year, and terrible creatures have invaded Earth and enslaved the human race.

The "Unmentionables" drag whip-claws along the ground, race faster than velociraptors, and loom larger than giraffes. Their screeches are loud enough to crack your skull right open. And the worst part? We made them. The Unmentionables grew out of all the hateful, dark, and wicked words ever spoken by human beings.

The situation is crazy loco, especially because five kids plucked from middle-of-nowhere towns around the world are humanity's only hope for survival. Good thing a giant alien octopus teaches them how to use their powers...

Yeah, that's right. These kids have been given the power to bring words to life. Mythical dragons, giants, ice breath, telepathy...They are the First Generation with the power to turn words into matter.

Humanity's worst words spawned horrible aliens that seek to destroy us. Is it too late for the First Generation to stop them?

A fantastic story, engagingly told! It’s always wonderful to watch words come to life in young readers and Rodama’s world does that literally.

Engaging story is often the best vehicle for wisdom and that’s definitely the case in The First Generation. An adventure of courage, unity and the power of our words, this one had me listening straight through to the end. Will be recommending to the young adults in my life.

A fun adventure with powerful teachings

This is much more than just an audio fiction book. It's a full-fledged audio performance, on par with War of the Worlds from back in the day. Immersive. Fun story, very approachable writing style, and compelling imagery. Could see this being made into a movie someday!

A Wonderful and Dynamic Audio Performance

Not too often does a sci-fi story come along that introduces us to a new set of rules and circumstances for the world in which it’s set. This one has it all, an exciting cast of characters, an action-packed storyline, and a PROFOUND deep meaning about the power of language and literature. I immediately recommended the audiobook to all of my students. Well done well done!

The next great universe for kids
