Whitechapel, London 1890. Queenie Bonner is only two when she is taken from her large family in the slums to a big house in the country. First, I must admit that I like Justine Eyre's performance as I did in a Simone St. James novel I listened to recently. I enjoy the period piece and Ms. Eyre's voice makes the characters become individuals that I could invest in. The plot line was active, with so much growth in the emotional relationships that bonded Eleanor to her families. A very enjoyable listen.
