The nice guy gets the girl

A male voice was needed for this story which is told from the mild mannered hero’s point of view. The duke treats an assortment of “inferior “ persons with dignity, going out of his way to help them and in the process helping himself. I like it when nice people win.

Excellent romp about Regency England

One of Heyer’s best. Well-paced with a diverting cast of characters. The reader is good and compliments the story rather than drag it down.

lead on you unmitigated scoundrel

A joy. The narration is up to the caliber of the story. I laughed out loud and ended with true affection for many of the key characters. Even the unmitigated scoundrels, and especially their boon companions.

Another Fabulous Heyer Story

As much as I love Heyer stores, the narrator elevated this one to an unexpected level. Absolutely darling, funny, and clever… I had so much fun listening.

Great narration Good story

This Heyer novel shows us a completely new type of hero—a mild-mannered young man who surmounts his obstacles with kindness and patience. Great narration with distinct voices for each character.

Pitch Perfect

So thrilling to finally have so many Georgette Heyers available on audio in the US! This is one of her most charming romantic comedies and the narration is excellent. Highly recommended.

Labor of Love

I love this Georgette Heyer novel, but it was a laborious endeavor to get through this audio book; the narrator was too bad. While the tone of his voice is pleasant, it is rather monotonous and jerky. Even playing it at up-speed did not help.

A previous edition of this book with Phyllida Nash as narrator is no longer available, which is unfortunate for it is excellent.
