About this listen

The Paris Apartment meets A Simple Favor in a binge-worthy thriller about a honeymoon gone horribly wrong.

Sometimes, Paris is a terrible idea.

This is not how she imagined it, any of it. Taylor Quinn arrives at her honeymoon suite in the City of Love alone, sans suitcase, but with wads of stolen cash. When she catches a glimpse of newlyweds Cassie and Olivier enjoying their happily ever, she can't tear her eyes away. And Cassie makes their antics easy to follow as she reveals every detail of their picture-perfect trip on social media. Taylor's obsession builds as she tracks their every move. This was the kind of life she was supposed to be living, this was the marriage she should have had, this was the honeymoon she dreamed of.

The illusion is shattered when she overhears a heated argument between Cassie and Olivier, which reveals that they're not the lovestruck couple they pretend to be. But Cassie and Olivier have agendas of their own, and Taylor can't see the danger in getting in the middle of this until it's too late. And now, no one will get out of Paris unscathed.

Trippy Wild Twisty Psychological Thriller!

"Sometimes Paris is a terrible idea."

"Sure, I’d done lots of shltty things, but I’d meant well, always."

Oh my goodness! The trippy twisty The French Honeymoon, by wild imaginative, let's keep them guessing to the end, author Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau, had me munching on popcorn, as I read each scene chewing character trying to destroy each other.

I'm going to give you the opening scenario with the caveat that this is a psychological thriller and these people are not just mentally damaged but often unreliable and unlikeable. Yet it's written with such an abandonment of charity, each one so focused on their own needs and wants, regardless of consequences for others, that getting to the end is a necessity. Do they pay for their misdeeds or are they rewarded for their tenacity to destroy anyone in their path to success?

Taylor checks into the honeymoon suite in Paris with no luggage or husband. She's distraught and frantic, until she spots Cassie and Olivier, obviously on their honeymoon. They're posting on Instagram, shopping in expensive stores and so in love. Taylor is so obsessed following them that she's shocked when she overhears them argue. Maybe they aren't so happy or in love!

I know you think you know this story, and you probably do...but Taylor is more than an unhinged stalker, and Cassie, well her objectives in this marriage are not about forever. As for Olivier, let's just say, he deserves everything he gets from this honeymoon.

The narrators were on point with the subtle lies, the cringe thoughts, the nervous rushes and the justification of their actions.

I had so much fun reading this popcorn thriller. It's a Lifetime movie on steroids. Fair warning, the ending is a bit ambiguous but I have my idea on that bathtub scene. Please message your ideas! After all, French or not, we all have ideas about the perfect honeymoon.

All opinions are my own.

Suspenseful and Engaging

This book had me completely gripped from the first sentence. It was absolutely amazing. I was also so impressed with both of the narrators. Amanda Troop, the female narrator was so impressive doing multiple accents and characters throughout the story. I loved every minute of it!
