About this listen

The future of mobility is evolving at an accelerating pace. This is most evident in the automotive retail channel, as both car dealers and automakers are experiencing an enhanced level of change.

The Future of Automotive Retail provides a framework for how these changes are impacting both automaker and automotive dealer.

The book provides a handy framework to categorize these changes across vehicle production, evolving consumer expectations, vehicle ownership, vehicle power sources, autonomy, connectivity, and servicing of vehicles.

The book wraps by providing a perspective on the future of the automotive dealership, as well as some practical advice on how to survive and thrive, given the accelerating pace of change.

Incredible demonstration from a student and participant in the automotive industry. I was entertained and challenged to consider the ramifications of various current disrupters. This writer provides a lens to arising issues that must be proactively addressed by dealers and OEMs if they are to survive the transformative environment to EVs, technology and new business models. Thought provoking and potentially path providing for automotive industry participants.

Futurist perspective for a stodgy industry

a wealth of thought provoking insights into the possible opportunities and threats facing the auto industry, and even a little glimpse into possible new flavors of the future like 3d printed Wasabi Cheddar?

not sure if i want my car to know my favorite clam chowda...good touch points on the precarious trade between big data and privacy, as well as the mergers and acquisitions happening behind the scenes that are shaping our future.

great narration, perfectly digestible even at the 3x speed I'm accustomed to :) (I'll blame the double shot espresso)

will definitely recommend this to my colleagues in the automotive industry.

The first chapter may seem like 2001: A Space Odyssey to some readers, but much the future tech that Steve Greenfield speaks about in the rest of the book is already happening today. Years from now people will read this book and wonder, “How did he know that would happen?”

There will always be naysayers around emerging technologies. But more importantly for automotive technology entrepreneurs, dealership managers, auto dealerships, auto manufacturers, there will be limitless opportunities around Connected Car technology and dealership digital transformation.

If nothing else, the chapter about how the lines are blurring between wholesale and retail is worth 10 times the price of the book.

Every automotive OEM, GM and Dealer Principal should read this
