About this listen

From New York Times best seller Alessandra Torre....

I have three months to write the last book of my life. Three months to confess the details of that day, and how it changed everything for me.

My name is Helena Ross. I've written 15 romance novels, 10 of which have become international best sellers. But this one isn't a romance, no happily ever after in place. This novel holds only the truth, which I have run away from for four years. The truth, which I have hidden from the police, from my loved ones, from the world.

This final book?

It's my confession.

Difficult words

This was a great book. The main character was really hard to like. I admired everyone who had to work with her. The way the story unfolds is brilliant.

Gripping Story!!

Loved the story- performance was weak. There were times I could not tell what character was actually being represented. Great story- poor delivery

Performance not great

I really enjoyed this book. It was entertaining and a good story. I have never been unhappy with the performance of an audio book before but this one was notably bad. Its a shame because I like the reader's voice and I felt like it really matched the character well. The problem was the disjointedness of the reading/recording. It sounded like the reading was started and stopped continually, mid-sentence over and over again. When the reader doesn't read the entire sentence at a time, it gets read with different inflections and tones. That made it very confusing! It was often hard to tell when the chapters and characters changed. I think they need to just re-record the entire thing.
I just went and read some reviews to see if anyone else had the same opinion and it looks like a lot of other people are saying the same thing or worse! Ok, now I don't feel crazy and overly critical.

The twist is an OMG moment!

Oh wow! One of my favorite genres, in addition to romance, is psychological suspense, so when I saw that one of my favorite romance authors, Alessandra Torre, was penning a novel in that genre, I couldn't wait! And it was just as great as I hoped. As with most suspense novels, it's best if you go in blind so as to get the experience as the author intends, so I won't include any spoilers in my review. I will say I absolutely LOVED this book! The twist is an OMG moment I totally had not figured out. So so good! I did not experience any problems or issues with the audio, as some other reviewers have stated. I listen at 1.3X and found the audio to be an enjoyable experience. The epilogue left me with a lump in my throat and actual tears. Such a fantastic book!

Could have been excellent.

The story itself is quite good. However, the narration was poor. I am actually surprised I did not quit listening because of the narration. Sounded like a robotic recording for most of it. But thankfully the story was good enough to keep me engaged.

Compelling

What a story. Well written and well performed, emotionally authentic and impactful. And a page turner for sure.

Pretty good story

The overall story was different than I’m used to, so it kept my interest. The narration wasn’t impressive

Ugly crying

This was a gut wrencher for me. I loved it. I see a lot of reviews that feel the narration is bad, I thought it was very fitting for Helena’s personality. Worth the read/ listen.

Great story - TERRIBLE narration and editing.

Do they even listen to these things before they release them? The story is actually really good - I just wish I would have read it and not listened to it. The narrator has the most dull - monotone voice. It was so difficult to listen to. Not only that but the editing was horrendous. Right in the middle of a sentence they splice in a word that is a completely different tone and volume. There is no way a professional did this. Do yourself a favor on this one and READ this…. Don’t buy this Audible.

great story!

amazing storytelling!!! The only thing that would have made this book better was a different narrator. it seemed patched together at times...sometimes the word spacing felt sped up.
