About this listen

Medical student Amy Brenner is spending the night on a locked psychiatric ward.

Amy has been dreading her evening working on Ward D, the hospital’s inpatient mental health unit. There are very specific reasons why she never wanted to do this required overnight rotation. Reasons nobody can ever find out.

And as the hours tick by, Amy grows increasingly convinced something terrible is happening within these tightly secured walls. When patients and staff start to vanish without a trace, it becomes clear that everyone on the unit is in grave danger.

Amy’s worst nightmare was spending the night on Ward D.

And now she might never escape.

So dumb…

I guess it doesn’t help I work in a psych ward but it was just so unrealistic. The main character makes bad decisions that are hard to believe. There were some interesting twists at the end. I was hoping for something like The Silent Patient and it was not.

Ehh

Not the best book by her. Very predictable. Just kind of meh. The narration was good though.

excellent

excellent piece of work. sure it takes things a little to the extreme at times but working in a busy inner city trauma center, it’s not far off the mark. with the comments I see here I realize how very little the general population understands about what really happens every day in healthcare. this was a real treat.

Too predictable

The thing I’ve loved about Freida McFadden is how she keeps you guessing until the very last page. While the storyline was okay, I found the book to be more predictable than her others. She writes beautifully, this one just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Dark. Twisty. Enjoyed it!

Loved the narrator in this. Told the story very well. While I am sure some could guess the ending of this book, the twist was not one I expected. I really liked the way they told the ending of the book. really enjoyed, was done in a day and a half.

Pleased

This book is my 4th Freida McFadden and it didn’t disappoint. Although I found the main character annoying throughout the book, it mostly came together in the end. I didn’t have a prediction reading this, which kept me engaged. Narration was perfect, as Leslie always is!

Not a fan of Amy

The main character, Amy, made me want to cuss her. Without telling too much, Amy is book smart but common sense is not there.
