About this listen

"Take her out back and finish her off."

She doesn’t know who she is. She doesn’t know where she is, or why. All she knows when she comes to in a ransacked cabin is that there are two men arguing over whether or not to kill her.

And that she must run.

In her riveting style, April Henry crafts a nail-biting thriller involving murder, identity theft, and biological warfare. Follow Cady and Ty (her accidental savior turned companion), as they race against the clock to stay alive.

Excellent suspense mystery for teens!

I enjoyed this short novel. The plot is not very complex and the characters are few in number. It is a nice quick listen with really good narration.

scooby doo

I enjoyed the beginning of this book, but it quickly became a Scooby Doo mystery.

Fast Paced and Easy to listen to

This was a surprisingly interesting read. Held my attention and had limited characters so it was very easy to listen to.

Interesting, Succint Mystery

I listened to this on audio, and it was a well narrated, fast paced story. The premise was interesting and kept you guessing until the end. Although it was short for a book in the thriller genre, the author was able to tell the story in a concise way without it feeling rushed or missing details. I would definitely try this author again.

Great teen read!

I caught this one on sale and am glad I picked it up. It's a short book that made my commute go by quickly.

Cady wakes up on the floor of a ransacked cabin and can't remember anything but knows that she is about to be killed. She escapes and fortunately winds up finding Ty, who helps her but who is she really?

The story is pretty predictable but still enjoyable. The narrator did a good job but later in the book, the mother's voice is a little awkward. Maybe she was trying to sound like a concise, logical thinker.

PG mystery/adventure, a good story

If you could sum up The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die in three words, what would they be?

Agree with the reviewer who said this story is for those readers who have graduated from Nancy Drew. After reading many of the other reviews, I expected to find a boring, juvenile novel. I did not find the ending inappropriate. I enjoyed the book and was glad that it was featured as a Daily Deal.

Very good

The plot and story is fantastic. Although I am new to this author, I will definitely look other audible book from her. This audiobook got me very hooked and finished it in one day straight. Could not put down this because it was so great the story. Definitely recommend this to other listeners because I truly enjoy it.

It was good but could have been much better.

I liked the premise of the book but some of the issues with the plot and the capabilities of the characters jarred me out of the story. For example, the lead character apparently gained enough proficiency in kung fu in two months of training to overcome a grown man even though she was severely traumatized and injured. I know quite a few martial arts students with years of training that I doubt could do that. There were also a few implausibility issues for me in the plot but I was able to overlook those too. Overall a good clean book that I enjoyed but I think it could have been really good, if not great, with better editing.

Okay YA thriller

I actually did not realize that this was a young adult novel when I bought this. I really liked the beginning, when the main character had no idea who she was, and someone was trying to kill her. It was fun, mindless suspense. The book captured the panic and helplessness of the girl's situation. The more she and we know, the more this devolved into a typical YA thriller. A little far-fetched, but fast moving. I enjoyed this enough to finish. I expect that young readers might like this a lot. I would rate the first half of this a fun 4 star thriller, but the second half faltered. I give a half-hearted endorsement for adults.
