It was ok.

This story had a slow beginning in my opinion but steady plot sequence. It’s a good in between book. I wanted to something different from what normally read or listen to and this was good choice. Also, it was short which was nice.

Okay

A nearly 18-year-old girl whose parents were killed when she was three decides to find the killer. There is dialogue but much of the story was inner dialogue as the reader listens (this is audio, after all) to her musings, her range of emotions, her investigation and her running for her life. Pretty intense. Narrator Amy McFadden did justice to the story.

incredible mystery and original

First off, the narrator is incredible. I couldn't imagine anyone making this book come to life as she has. I only picked the book on a whim because it's length was shorter than most. The title grabbed me as well because, at age 70, I'm looking back on who I was too.
The book started a bit slow as most do. It was the personality in the voice that kept me interested. It's story like was fresh and new and I've read and watched and listened to decades of written works.
The ending had me glued. I was feeling ever word. This is the only book I've ever listened to, or read, that ever frightened me to anxiety. I have so many books that are my favorites but this title will be first off my tongue when asked what is my favorite. I completely believe this book should be listened to and this voice is narration should be the only voice this book should EVER HAVE. This book added much to my life... thrilling, mind's eye glory.

Loved the book!

The book was filled with heart wrenching moments that made you feel all the emotion the characters felt at that moment. This was better than any murder mystery show I have ever seen. On the downside, the beginning was pretty slow you have to reach at lets page fifty before hating on the book, I didn't find anything else that made bored, but overall The Girl I Used To Be kept me on the edge of my set and even made me cry!
