Publisher's summary

Let the world's funniest sportsman tickle your funny bone with quirky homespun stories and whimsical perspectives on life. Patrick F. McManus gently pokes fun at the oddities of sacred institutions like friendship, marriage, and even hunting and fishing. Soon his crazy theories start making sense, and you know you've crossed the border into McManus country, where life is a little lighter - and much more amusing. McManus initiates you into his world with intimate tales of cub scout pranks, high-school football rituals, and other rites of passage. He conveys an appealing sense of old-fashioned innocence that allows you to see the humor in modern life.

Narrator Norman Dietz's comic genius brings out the full flavor of McManus' unique style. With Dietz's narration, you'll feel you're sitting in a patio chair, with a can of "beverage" and box of cigars, swapping stories with a buddy.

The narrator is the best narrator for Patrick f McManus and there's only 7 that he narrated it's sad that Norman could narrate any more😢😢😢

Love Norman dietz narrating Patrick McManus

My favorite Patrick McManus books are the ones that Norman Dietz narrates. He does an excellent job and I wish all of McManus’s books were narrated by him

Positive, clean, funny stories - brighten your day

I had a big lump in my throat from another Audible book I had listened to. An excellent book, with stories of horses and the people who trained them, good and bad. The last chapter left me with a lump in my throat and sad heart and it was still there the next day. I needed a humorous book to take away that big lump in my throat and empty feeling in my chest from the true story I had read and the sad ending of a man in many of the chapters.

I love Patrick McManus' s humor, stories built upon years of insightful observations of human behavior, and woven with a rare gift of story telling. This book has some funny laught-out-loud stories, and the rest are simply good stories that put a smile on your face or will at least lighten your heart.

Laughter is good medicine for a heavy heart, and this book did the trick. It erased the lump in my throat, the sadness left from the end of another book and as long as I don't think about that other book, this book has done the trick and lightened the load and brightened my day.

If you ever have stressed out days, or sad days, I'd recommend any of Patrick McManus' books. Not that I'm a prude, but it's interesting how he manages to get laughter without using foul language or crude references. I am a person who has been opposed to hunting, yet I still enjoy his stories, even those with a hunting or fishing theme, maybe because he writes them from the point of view of a hapless hunter or fisherman.

They are a hoot.

I LOVE these books!

I have read/listened to EVERY one of Patrick F. Mcmanus' books several times! The stories never get old. It is good, clean humor that my sons and I have enjoyed together for years! if you like fishing, hunting, camping, basically any outdoor stuff, you will love these too. I wish he was still around to give us more...The world lost a truly funny man and national treasure when he passed. The Narrator Norman Dietz, IS the voice of Patrick McManus and all his hapless characters, especially Rancid Crabtree, my favorite! No one else should even try! Absolutely recommend every book!

Good "guy" book

A great book for those who enjoy hunting and fishing. Wasnt my cup of tea, but I could see others liking it. It make me laugh several times. A book about funny things a guy does as an adult and while he is growing up.

Classic As Always!

Excellent book by Patrick McManus! The only thing that bothered me was the narrator pronounced a couple of things incorrectly - like calling someone named after Attila the Hun “AT-till-la”. He should have listened to the original recorded version first. Other than that he is an excellent narrator of McManus books.

McManus never fails to entertain

Another fine collection of short stories detailing the misadventures of the author. I found myself laughing out loud several times with these yarns. I recommend this book to lovers of tall tales, outdoor yarns, and anyone else who ever knew a hunter or fisherman. Enjoy!
