About this listen

Half-troll. Half-human. All badass.

Maine doesn't like her father. It doesn't help that he's a troll. As in a literal, lives-under-a-bridge troll.

When her father is killed, Maine returns home to settle his estate and learns that he wasn't any ordinary troll, but the town hero. Seems trolls can be superheroes, too.

When Maine inherited her father's Mantle, she got more than a demonically possessed magical cape that reveals one's weakness. She also inherited several busloads of mythical adversaries. Thanks, Dad!

Now that she's inherited the Mantle, her father's assassins are coming after her. With powerful supernatural beings gunning for her and the Mantle, Maine doesn't have much time to learn about her magical inheritance. She has a choice to make. Give up her father's Mantle and return to her mundane, human life, or stay and fight.

With the help of a chihuahua-sized dire wolf, a very sexy wizard, and her father's Mantle, Maine enters a maze of supernatural mysteries.

Will Maine uncover the truth of who her father was and why he was killed? Can she avoid her quest for that truth risking the lives of her and her friends along the way?

Good Story

Good start, Great idea. A little slow but this is book one and the premise is a good one.

Really wanted to like this one

This sounded like exactly the type of story I would love. Instead, I spent most of my time irked at how idiotic the main character was. The humor also didn't ring funny to me. Plot and story were a good start, but it fell flat for me.

What a fun ride!

This is a well-crafted story with realistic fantasy. It has a modern feel within a world of wonder and magic. The character voices are exciting, consistent and likable. Jenn Lee’s perspective, both as narrator and leads, is clear and always compelling. Despite the language, it was a fun ride for my kids too!

What Fun!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to others in this Series!! Our Main Character Maine (pun intended), is a very interesting hybrid of Human and Troll, but raised most of her life in the human world. Because of this she does not real understand or know how to use and deal with magic. The Narrator does a Wounderful job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline. Highly recommend this book!!

Understanding Relationships

A lot of "On the job learning" for heroine. Learning too that magic people have their quirks, but they also are her people now.
The important point for me it was very hard to put it down. The just one more chapter was my mantra.
Jenn Lee was point on, excellent Narrator. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her work.Infact, the next thing I'll be doing is checking out the audios she has done .
So yes spend money.

Don't sleep on this one.. It's great!

Funny, great world building, interesting characters, fun storyline...it's got it all. I was a little nervous because it didn't have many reviews, but I loved it!

I was so glad to be done with this book

The story has an interesting premise. But the narrator! Constantly pausing in the middle of sentences as if to build tension through the entire book. I could not wait to finish and would have returned if I could have.

Very average yarn, formulaic and rushed story

It’s a typical Anderle, same formula different setting, different co-writer.
It’s a classic old school paperback that you read once and leave on the train for the next reader, only in audio format.

Some new and or interesting things but overall very average.

Not the best narration, but not the worst either, just average…

I’d read the rest if they were included in my description, but won’t be spending a credit on the next book.
