Publisher's summary

A contract killer. A governor's son. A gunshot heard around the world.

This fast-paced, action-packed thriller stars a hero who's tough like Reacher and smart like Bosch.

Garrison Chase has one shot left. Finally back on duty after a year-long suspension for insubordination, the black-ops-turned-FBI agent is desperate to prove he can be a team player. But he’s horrified when the first day of his assignment goes sideways after his house nearly explodes and the man he’s supposed to protect catches a sniper’s bullet.

Relieved his charge was only wounded by the hit, Chase wonders if he was the actual target. So when he’s ordered off the case and away from the victim, the hot-headed former operative refuses to obey even if it could cost his career… or his life.

Can Chase unravel a sinister conspiracy before he’s permanently out of action?

THE GREATEST GOOD is the pulse-pounding first novel in the Garrison Chase Thriller series. If you like dogged heroes, shocking twists, and heated battles for justice, then you’ll love Craig N. Hooper’s electrifying tale.

"Electrifying and gripping, THE GREATEST GOOD is the real deal, a thrilling masterpiece!" - The International Review of Books

Good start to a series

Chase isn't a Reacher or Bosch, but he's interesting enough for a few novels, at least. As is too often the case in this genre, the author gets a little too carried away with some of the action, making it seem contrived and unrealistic. But the story is suspenseful, and fortunately, does not end in a cliffhanger.

Steve Rausch delivers an excellent performance, giving distinctive voices to the characters.

The Greatest Use of My Time

Loved the book Craig. Kept me engaged throughout and most important, I liked the characters. Any time a book hits me on an emotional level, I know the author understands the keys to a successful novel. In fact, I was so engaged that I made sure to pause whenever I lay down for a nap, so I wouldn't miss a thing. I've listened to almost a thousand hours of audio books (not just on audible, but Youtube as well), from some of the best in the business, including ALL of Greaney, Koontz, Coulter, et al, but I write very few reviews. I'm a sculptor, and do most of my listening while working on pieces.

Thank you for such an entertaining experience.

Explosive Action/Suspense Thriller

Craig Hooper excels at introducing believable characters and developing them as the story progresses. It was easy to become invested in his characters as he weaved them through an intense, exciting, fast-paced, complex plot with intrigue, deception and manipulation. This story held my attention and kept me guessing with its non-stop action and surprising twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed this well-written, riveting action/suspense thriller. This is the first time I have had the pleasure of listening to the rich voice of Steve Rausch; he provided each character with their own distinctive voice and his performance was terrific. Great!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I really enjoyed this book. it was a good change of pace from my usual fantasy/thriller/horror genres.

The story was really good. The characters were well fleshed out and finally, we have a main character who is "absolutely perfect/sexy/hot/the epitome of masculinity" and who has some (glaring) flaws. This was a good mystery and leaves you questioning throughout most of the story.

The narrator was good but he was a bit slow in some parts. I ended up speeding up to 1.5x which made things a normal speed. Some of his voices were a bit off (too deep or too light) but overall, he is a good narrator and I enjoyed the way he portrayed the characters

Be Careful Who You Trust!

This is one of those audiobooks that keeps you in the car because you need to know what happens next. Definitely one of the best books I have listening to this year… thank you Craig Hooper for the great storyline. Garrison Chase has just joined my list of favorite action heroes like Jack Reacher, Harry Bosch and Will Robie. The narration by Steve Rausch was spot on, I hope he continues to narrate future audiobooks in the series, he truly brings the characters to life.

Boring. Couldn’t finish

17 dollars wasted. Bad story. Not believable. Boring. Boring. Boring. Back to Michael Connelly for sure.
